If you like those shows, then I think you'll really like Buffy. I watch all those shows, and Buffy is one of my favorites. I have the DVD sets.

Buffy is much better than Charmed, because the writing is so much better. Yes, there are weak episodes, but don't give up and keep watching--there are gems in every single season!

Buffy is similar to Heroes in that the vampire slaying/supernatural stuff is a metaphor for adolescent life, and in Heroes the "powers" are a metaphor for having to deal with things beyond our control. I think both series work on more than one level, and that's one of the things that make them so good. I hope you follow through and get the Buffy DVDs--enjoy!

I love supernatural shows 90% of my shows are Sci Fi related. I watched Charmed and watch Heroes and Buffy is awesome. I agree with watching a re-run or two before buying . But IMO you won't be disappointed. It's a great show. ^_^ DJ

As a series it'd be best to watch it from the beginning, as it always makes for better viewing to understand its genesis. Rent it or watch it online (or on TV) first before buying as it is an eight season series, which can get expensive - trust me, I own the entire series. We love Buffy in our home, it's a funny show with lots of drama and sci-fi fantasy mixed in. Great characters and great writing - it will not disappoint if you are fans of this genre.

Once More With Feeling, in particular, was a breakout episode, mostly musical throughout with performances from everyone. Tara and Giles, who both have backgrounds in music, were prominent in this and sounded wonderful. Buffy and Willow, on the other hand sang, but only minimally as they were less comfortable singing. The show would likely have won an Emmy for this episode, but no one knew which category to submit it under; this speaks volumes to the credit of the writers as it encompasses so many genres.

Watch the tutor. The novels are in basic terms tie-ins, approved fan fiction in a manner, and are not everywhere pay attention as relaxing by using fact the tutor is. they are so vast by using fact there are diverse books in them somewhat of only one. various Buffy tie-ins have been revealed with the aid of the years and that they took the possibility to bunch them mutually for the period of the vampire craze. (Whoa, cool down there. i do in comparison to Twilight the two, yet pulling down each and all of the books is slightly plenty. My e book place has an entire table for them and that i in basic terms walk by utilising to the greater valuable books devoid of 2d concept. attempting to knock all those books down could get you kicked out and/or banned. in basic terms bypass away them as they are and each little thing is stable. some people make investments way too plenty hatred in that sequence and its followers while they (the followers, a minimum of) do not deserve it.)

I think you'll really like it. The last two seasons sucked pretty badly, so you might want to skip them. But Seasons 1-3 were excellent. Seasons 4-5 were not as good, but decent. Seasons 6 and 7 were godawful. At the end of Season 3, some cast members left for the new series, Angel. Once you finish Buffy season 3 try watching Angel season 1. It was pretty good for the first few seasons, although it kind of fell apart toward the end as well.

You might also enjoy the X-Files, if you've never seen it. Ditto for Alias.

Get it!!! Not just the best fantasy/supernatural show ever on television, but one of the best shows, period. Great cast, amazingly well-written, the comedy is genuinely witty, and the drama and romance will break your heart. After you start this, you'll want to get "Angel" spinoff, too.

Highest recommendation!
