I've been battling sciatica for close to a decade, after a minor car accident, and I had tried everything the doc threw at mepills, injections, special mattresses This guide was extremely eye opening and within one week of the regimen you gave me I can barely feel any discomfort. You have no idea how much of a relief it is to be finally getting rid of a pain I've had to bear for so many years.

Sciatica Exercise Guide?

I can identify with that.
Take relaxing warm baths with some lavender essential oil in (few drops).
Then use some wood-lock oil (I buy this from a Chinese herbalist) and rub it into the sciatic area. It is an embrocation heat forming that really does work! It works better for me than any pain relieving gels or pills.
Take some Pain relief tablets.
Get your GP to refer you for some physio?
I pay privately to see a physio (36 pounds for 30 Min's) and it is money well spent.
I am a nurse by trade so need to be pain free and comfy as possible as my job is quite physical.
Try to do gentle exercises as sitting for too long is not a good thing.
IF the pain is agony then I would be seen by a private physiotherapist asap. I don;t bother with Chiropractors as they did no good for me. Massage can also help.

The best thing you can do is exercise and keep active, i had a really bad time with mine a few years ago could hardly move, but when you have twins aged 9 you cannot just lie about it was so painful, i was given anti inflammatory and told to be as active as i could and it did work

I'm guessing you have been to the doctor & had your condition diagnosed as sciatica. You could go back to your physician; if you don't want the drugs that are always given, request physical therapy - exercise does seem to help some. One of the keys I have found is to try not to give in to the pain - keep moving as best you can. You may also want to try chiropractic, depending on what the cause of your pain; some injuries do not go well with chiropractic treatment.

Both chiropractors and physical therapy are good ways to treat this. Just because chiropractic didn't work for that one lady is no reason not to go to one. We are very well trained in dealing with musculoskeletal pain and a few kooks have given us all a bad name.

Get a bag of frozen peas or vegetables out of the freezer, put it on the sciatic nerve area for 10 minutes, no more, no less, time it.

Do this every time the pain comes. Your sciatic nerve is inflamed. If you keep applying the frozen pack for 10 minutes at a time, you will eventually relieve the inflammation and cure it all together.

If you have had it longer than 6 weeks, have numbness or weakness in your leg you should see a Doctor for a scan.
If it is recent, use good painkillers, avoid sitting and my number one suggestion........... WALK.

True, have experienced this on and off for a number of years. I have to be careful of the type of chair I sit on. An office chair is the worse. Pressing on the nerve and "OW!"
Always had to resort to Advil.
