example: a school bus falls off a cliff killing 43 children. only 1 survives. people call it a miracle that one survived. if god had a hand in the miracle of that child surviving, then he also had a hand in murdering the other 43!

so was this act one of kindness for saving that special child, or one of murder for killing the rest?

is a miracle only that in the eyes of the beholder? if so, is it really from god?

thanks billbob ; )

miracles are very individual and private things.
if you go to the bible... the parting of the red sea was a miracle for the israelites but was a total disaster for the egyptians.
the child saved in that bus accident had a miracle or was very lucky... i dont think the parents of the other 43 kids would call it a miracle. they'll probably resent him quite a lot.
i think we need to just be grateful for the good things that happen to us and learn from the "bad" things.

Good question! I think that is the problem with miracles, is that a miracle is in the eyes of the beholder. What I consider a miracle, you may not.

For example, I lived through a surgery I shouldn't have. I think it is a miracle. (and yes, the surgeon did a wonderful job!) But, truth is, I was orginally scheduled for the surgery two weeks later, and if I had the surgery when scheduled I would have died. I was bleeding internally and noone knew... they didn't realize it till the surgeon made the first cut. Miracle, luck that someone canceled their surgery so I could be bumped up, modern medicine, or plain luck?

My aunt says every day the sun rises it is a miracle and we are just blind to it.... I think in some ways she is right and I am just growing more and more cynical.....

Miracles, in a human since of the word are performed by people. Everything God does is and should be a miracle in our eyes and hearts. your example, the one survivor is a miracle by human standards, but in reality it means that God was ready for the other 43 to join him and wasn't ready for the one that survived. I don't know why things work that way, you'll have to ask when it's your time.

Considering that the child would probably be injured and definitely be traumatized, I think people need to be careful with the miracle talk in these situations. It's not helpful or comforting.

There are many genuine miracles each year. I wouldn't say raising the dead , only a miracle in the eyes of the beholder.

if the bus had fell over a cliff and all children survived ... that would be a miracle
to have one survive.... it is only a miracle to the parents of that child

It would have been miraculous if all 44 children survived.
