I just had a question. If you are considered an adult at the age of 18 then how come you really cant do things until your 21. For example I have 2 kids and i am 20 I wanted to get my tubes tied after my second one the doctors said they can't do that unless i have 3 kids or i am 21. Why do they say you are a legal adult at 18 if you cant even make decisions about your own body till your 21

Most doctors don't like women getting their tubes tied at such a young age. They figure that your likely to change your mind and regret your decision. I've never heard that you have to wait until your 21, so I don't know if that's a law or not. Sounds to me that he might be putting you off so you have more time to consider your decision. Call some other doctors and ask them about the age thing. Personally, I think if they'll let young women get abortions, they ought to let them get their tubes tied.

On a side note, please be sure it's what you want to do before you go through with it. Get all the information and know the pros and cons so you can make an informed decision.

There are alot of things you can't do till 21. But in the meantime make sure you are using birth control and when you turn 21 get your tubes tied! How silly, you have 2 kids and don't want more that is your business not anyone elses!

You are allowed to vote at age 18. You can enlist in the military at 18. You may not drink or buy alchohol, but you can smoke. You can drive at 17 in many states, but not smoke til 18.
I appreciate your dilemma, but maybe they can find you some contraception that will work for you, while you wait.

Because rules, laws, and other social mandates were decreed or modified quite some time ago. There is a need for a huge social change, but no one in the "higher ups" seems to be willing to make it.

There is a list as big as my "Spam" box of laws that simply do NOT apply to the country anymore.

Now I know I am preaching, but change starts with a single step. I am hoping that someone makes that step soon.

Their are some places that won't let you tie your tubes unless your 26 and the reason they do it is because alot of times you want your tubes tied, but then for some reason you cange your mind and it is alot more expensive to get them untied. They feel that the older you are the better your choice to do that is. I have a friend who has 2 kids then got a divorce got remarried and wanted her tubes untied because her husband wanted kids.

Dont worry its only a year away. In the meantime, take care and play safe. Take care of your body. Only 21 and already have two kids. You husband is inconsiderate, its a heavy toll on your body. He is only using and abusing you not a thought for your health or yourself. Use the condom and be safe, condom will prevent STD and Aids. Cause all men are screwing around and bringing home the diseases to their wives. Dont be a sex slave.

more than anything I think it is to protect you. Your still young enough to have 15 kids if you chose to, I'm sure they feel like they are protecting your decision to change your mind in the future.
