History is replete with more advanced civilisations being taken over by barbaric uncultured peoples just coz the civilised people had some moral restraints while dealing with threats and the barbarians didnot!
Our own democratic values and freedom is being used against us!

capn edib i donot hate people and this is a sane advice! The world is not the same anymore and this time the very existence of humanity would be at stake. people are not fighting with swords anymore. This tiome the scale of destruction would be many times over than you can possibly fathom and that is what i dread! Whether it be the loss of muslim life or the non-muslims! The world has technologically progressed far beyond the fantasy of the ottoman empire prevelant in the muslim world. The world is suggesting that the muslim world join the rest of the world in the 21st century! Your adamant rhetoric suggests, that you donot hear the alarm bells ringing!

NQV this is what i'm talking about. Nobody wants to nuke the muslims but people will defend themselves. The muslims are the ones who are not willing to play on a level playing field! They blame the ills of their society on others instead of analysing themselves. I donot want your or my kids to be killed in an unnecessary war. I want them to play together! That is my hope for peace which is perhaps falling on deaf ears!

Really, really well said. In the UK especially, tolerance and compassion are being used against people by the more militant Muslims.
We need Muslims who want peace to speak up more vocally, in order to defeat the extremists.

You seem to have a short memory. You must have forgotten Shock and Awe in Baghdad. This happened a decade before 911. You have forgotten again that the same happened in Afghanistan and then in Baghdad one more time. You must have also forgotten the created war between Iran and Iraq. You need to understand something basic.
True you can nuke nations into submission. But you can not kill a culture or a faith by it. Japanese do not speak English. Never forget that. Nor are the Japanese Christians.
Just so your history lessons (if any you took) are refreshed, Baghdad and Iraq and the entire middle-east was totally over- run by the Mongols at the time of Genghis Khan. He totally subdued that entire region (on horse back and with swords, mind you!!), but his grandson was a firm believer in Islam and it brought new energy to the faith in the 1200s. It is not physical control of bodies and land that are necessary, it is ideas that rule the World.
Islam is a powerful idea. May be you are too arrogant or self absorbed to see any value in it. I see it as a powerful and lasting faith, that spread like a wild fire when it emerged on the World scene and doing so again all over one more time.
We say persecution is one of the best ways of preserving a faith. Remember that Rome was powerful so was Egypt. So, bring on what you got, and we will show you the resilience of Islam that has survived many arrogant nations and many tyrants, everyone of whom has bit the dust in front of Islam and there are no exceptions so far!!

The West is being "politically correct" which exceeds being "naive." The PC movement is at its best when their speech constraints have such a negative impact so as to threaten the country they hate, America. Hand the problem over to the man on the street who doesn't bother with PC and the problem will be solved.

Here it comes again.
Dear buddy, I am sure you know nothing about History.
You must study some history to improve your knowledge.
Here is some..........
"........Yet even a rapid sketch will show how much Islam did for Europe in the middle ages. Islam founded the great university of CORDOVA which attracted Christian scholars from different parts of Europe. One of these scholars became, in due course 'The Pope of Rome'. "--[ The Spirit and Struggle of Islam, by Prof. T.L.Vaswani, Ganesh & co., Madras-1921, pg-14]
".........that Sun- Yet -Sen, the republican leader announced greatfully, " The Chinese will never forget the assistance wiyh thier muslim fellow-countrymen have rendered in the interest of order and liberty."--[ VEMB'ERY, An Approach between moslem and buddhists"- 19th century and afterwards, April-1912 ]
" About fifteen new styles of architecture were introduced by Muslims in India and central Asia."--[ Fergusson's History of Architecture ]
" The university of SALERNO in ITALY was one of the first to teach scientific medicine. Major operations were performed and the insane were treated scientifically."--[A history of world civilization by James Edgar.Swain Ph.D, Macgrow- Hill book co.Inc.pg-291]
" Under the enlightened reign of the Abbasides, the Fatemites and the Ommiadss rulers, learning and culture prospered respectively in Asia, North Africa and Spain. From Samarkand and Bokhara to Fez and Cordova, numerous scholars studied and taught astronomy, methamatics, physics, chemistry, medicine and music."-- [The Historic Role of Islam, by M.N.Roy, pg-69,Vora & Co.8 Round Building, Bombay-2]
"I have to deplore the systematic manner in which the literature of Europe has continued to put out of sight our obligations to the Muhammadans. Surely they cannot be much longer hidden. Injustice founded on religious rancour and national conceit cannot be perpetuated forever. The Arab has left his intellectual impress on Europe. He has indelibly written it on the heavens as any one may see who reads the names of the stars on a common celestial globe."--John William Draper in the "Intellectual Development of Europe"
I am sure you need some lessons to learn.
Begin it now to raise your level....
EDIT:1
I thought you question was related to HISTORY OF MUSLIMS.
I didn't know that you will slip so soon to the 21st century.
I am confused.
Can you clarify which period is your question related to ?
.....................
EDIT:2
In your response to NQV's answer.....
How can our kids live in peace when they are being killed in Palistine, Iraq etc ?
How can our kids live in peace when they are taught such hatred which you have towards Muslims ?
How can our kids live in peace when they are suggested that Muslims can be elimenated/ got to their knees only when bombed like Japan ?
How inappropriate .....
...........................
EDIT:3
Hello...........Are you there ?

no no! which world are you living in? Is bombing a country with the intention of eradicating an entire community in the name of hunting for a few terrorists an act of naivity? IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN do not sound like mistakes, not to me atleast, looks like you are being naive.

The hippies "peace and love" generation effect is clearly seen in the fact that many naively think that they will be able to appease the Muslims with
"diplomacy"...(nice drug affected mind dream).

Yes...to quote an oldie but a goodie...
"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
I cannot even fathom how people like Jimmy "The Peanut Farmer" Carter can be so naive as to say "we must negotiate with Iran!"
Yeah, Jim-Bob - THAT did us a whole lotta good when YOU were president and our hostages were held for 444 days!

naive is the wrong word. "Ridiculously stupid" would be more to the point. Any religion that advocates death to gays, the stoneing of people etc. etc. needs its head testing and should be treated with all the contempt anyone can muster.
