church concerts with good lighting a small digital might take a couple good shots. lol
Even if you could get into a low light rock concert with an expensive $399 flash unit that fires light up to 32 feet you would probably be escorted right out the door. lol

You should have mentioned how much you plan to spend. As was mentioned before a flash will only get out 10 maybe 15 feet, so forget flash at concerts. If your price range is around $135 or $150 stay with Canon cameras. Buying AA rechargeable batteries no camera will die within a couple of shots.Learn to increase your ISO setting to say 400 when taking photos at concerts and be perfectly still. Catch the entertainers at a still moment if possible.

If you're going to concerts, remember that the flash is WORTHLESS beyond 15 feet. It doesn't do a thing.

And remember also that 3.1 megapixels is the most you need for an 11x14 highest quality picture which is the maximum that home printers will print anyway.

Setting a camera on higher megapixels uses more battery power and is USELESS because home printers can't print that much quality. If you're going to send the chip to a photo printer for 20x24 or so, you might need more megapixels.

Same thing with flash. Eats batteries. Don't use it for stage shots. Doesn't do a thing. If you don't believe me, take one with and one without the flash.

All those flashes going off in the audience doesn't help the photo quality unless you've got maybe a 200 watt/second flash gun head at the slowest shutter speed and widest lens opening.

Go for Canon it not expensive with 3 megapixel. With higher than 3 megapixel the more expensive it is. The 3 megapixel produces good quality pictures. Choose the one with 2AA batteries. Then buy rechargeable batteries along with its charger. You can take more than a 100 photos with the regular settings and for the best quality setting less than 100 shots. For e-mail settings more than 200 to 300 photos.

Using a digicam at a concert is like trying to push a rope - pointless and a waste of time. Maybe, maybe, if you're in the very front row you might get a usable image but its doubtful.

You should also consider that most concert venues don't allow cameras and if you're caught using one it will be confiscated, never to be seen again.

You'll want to do low light photography. For $120 get the Fujifilm Finepix F10, which goes up to ISO 1600 (good for low light). If you want to spend even more, get the Fujifilm Finepix F30, which goes up to ISO 3200. Both use rechargeable lithium ion batteries for awesome battery life.
