Yes you made the right decision - take a short break to give yourself time to get used to the medication and maybe go to a temping agency so that you can perhaps work week off and one week on or chose a job that has no responsibility so that you can help yourself get well. From your boss's point of view while he may be sorry to lose you he is not paying you for long term sick so he can afford to look for alternative staff without financial penalty to the company. Take care of yourself and get better soon.

This is a strange coincidence "Panic Attacks", Ihave been having panic attacks for about 5 months & I dont know how I've lasted this long. Ihave been off for four days, last vacation days of the year. I am petrified of even attempting to go in to work, so I got on ask? can i quit my job today & this was the first thing to pop up. I have a good job & make the money that suites me but; I feel that co-workers think I am crazy because panic attacks are not normal. I have never seen anybody else have this problem & the only person I have ran into that has had did crazy LSD in the early 70's. Doesn't fit my profile Iknow that I will call in here shortly & they will think I am even crazier. So ishould just quit because I will enevidbly be fired anyways. I can live for 1 Year without working but will make no progress. I think though if I take a few months away I will be OK. I am rambling PANIC ATTACKS. Worse thig I have ever experienced. The first ones I had where at work in front of customers & all I could do is just franticly walk right out, And then just show right back up the next day like nothing happened " crazy". Then I started having Panic Attacks about having Panic Attacks. I 'll pull up into th e parking lot have an attack & drive back home. Then I would hav an attack in the parking lot , talk myself through it & go in get to my desk with customers & cold face turn around & walk out " crazy". People have to think. I have been doing ths for five months I think maybeit is the job & I need to change & take the chance. What do you think. Yeah, I think you made the right decision. You have to focus on your health. Don't worry about the job. There will be other jobs. You may start back at work gradually, part time. Get a job that has low stress levels. Just take it a day at a time. Don't feel guilty about your boss. You aren't the first person who has ever quit their job and you won't be the last. That's life. Focus on your health ;)
Take it easy.

It's strange in life how a physical illness is just accepted, and that if we have to leave a job because of it, then that's ok.
But our mental health is just as fragile and it sounds like you have to take time out here to get yourself better. Having these panic attacks is no fault of yours (no different to you breaking your leg and not being able to play football)... Health is health, be it physical or psychological.
I would also go to see a psychotherapist and talk about what seems to trigger these attacks. I hope things start to get better for you, but for now, just worry about yourself. Your boss will get over it!

I think you made the right decision. My MIL has fibro and the symptoms really knock her out. Try to give the antidepressants a chance to work, and for your body to get used to all the changes and then maybe ease yourself back into work. Perhaps you could go back on a part-time basis, which would be less taxing on your body. Good luck!

Regardless of whether you made the right or wrong decision, you cannot go back. Even if your boss were to beg you to come back, studies exist that show that people who return to jobs they've quit never get proper recognition if they go back.
Hopefully you left in a professional manner - gave notice, said how much you appreciated the opportunity, how much you learned, etc.... and SMILED as you left.
If so, then just move on. People leave jobs all the time for all sorts of reasons, and they "leave well", meaning they don't leave bitterly - and they go get new jobs. Ask your former boss if you can use him/her as a reference (and write up your own recommendation for him to use, even).
Good luck!

I have been in your shoes. It is very difficult to make such a decision. Be sure you follow up with your medical care and see a therapist as well. The anti-depressants are a tool not a cure. And Fibro. sucks the life out of you. It is not fatal, of course, but it torments you. You will need to make life changes both for your health and financial well being. Good luck and God Bless.

Don't quit your job, ask for sick leave (ask your GP to give you a letter to give to your boss) because your are not ok to work, you have the right , you will be paid for it and you need money in this difficult moment, go back to work when you are ok.

Might have been wiser to get the doc to sign you of work, but as always in these situations, go with your gut feeling, it's probably right

Yes, but don't stay out of work for too long.
Lack of activity and too much rest without some mild exercise will just make your problems a whole lot worse.
