Have you ever priced air time. Radio is expensive, so is TV. I costs a small fortune to put out God's word on the television air waves. Granted some of the televangilists shouldn't be wearing all the glitz, but some people expect it. After all you are on TV and should represent the glamour of television. That being said, I do think they do have a bit too much money, but most or all of it is donated to them. I think you can tell the good ones from the bad. Watch when they ask you to send for a product they have, like a bible or a tape or something. Watch the cost. if it is free or very reasonable, chances are they are on the up and up.

There is a difference between those who preach on TV without seeking the funds, because this is a way of reaching those who do not go to services for whatever reason, but even then, when you consider how much money the producers and owners of CBN and such make each year, it is amazing...
The most amazing part of televangelism can be seen in reading Ezekiel 34. In that chapter, HaShem criticizes those that He personally had set aside, separated, and entrusted to keep the law, keep the people holy and keep the wealth, but not the land.
He chastises these people, says that they got wealthy off the unsuspecting sheep who simply believing they would be saved followed the leaders, made them wealthy, trusted their souls to these people, and were led astray while these shepherds got fat off the sheep.
As a result of this, GD said, I am coming down personally, I am going to heal the people, bind the injured, retrieve the lost sheep and do so in the guise of a man who would serve me, be the Good Shepherd, come from the house of David, and this servant David I will make prince--the prince of course being the Son of the King.
HaShem says He would instill in each individual's heart the faith needed to follow this Shepherd if they so desired. As a result, there would be no longer a need for those who would get fat off the people promising to keep them true to the word when all they really did was get wealthy off them.
Jesus comes along and He gets angry at the Pharisees, those who had been separated (Pharisee comes from the Hebrew word for "separate"-parash) because these people had gotten wealthy off the people, had put themselves in the front rows, had not led the people down the righteous path and were therefore not being true in their faith. Jesus says, you have no need for these people, because your Holy Spirit will dwell inside of you. and that will keep you true to your word instead of making these people wealthy.
So, what happens centuries later? A televangelist comes on to say "I have a calling. Jesus says that you are to send me your money, so I can get wealthy off of you, I can pray for you and make intercession on your behalf, and keep you holy, and if you send in your money, you will be fine says the LRD."
But if we look at Ezekiel 34 and the prophesies, and if we look at the gospels of Jesus and the wealth-seeking hypocritical Pharisees, isn't that the kind of false self-righteousness of those who had been called by HaShem and led the people astray that got Jesus to appear in the first place????????? Isn't that what the New Testament is all about-making one Intercessor, the Messiah, the Christ, and not another mortal person??? So, did Jesus call these people just to put Himself out of business??? I dun think so.

Apparently you need to also read the other part of the gospel presently. God authorizes 'prosperity' presently, it is how one uses the money; the the possession of it currently.

While it is obvious that riches are what some are after, We are Mot to Judge but rather not send them anymore money and then to work on our own salvation.

its not the fact of how much money people have you can be a rich person and still live as if you have nothing because in truth we do have nothing you can't take it with you. you can have money and not let it become an idol to you. i think that it matters how you obtained your money and how you use it that counts.

I can say that who I listen to only owns
one car and still pays his mortgage
he does not own his tv station, or profit
from materials sold, and he asks us to pray
for him that he never gets caught up in the
commercialism, and that is honesty to me.

There are some good televangelists.....and there are some bad.
The ones who preach prosperity have got it all wrong.
The ones who seek to get people saved.........those have got it right.
