Many people say their PS3 is the greatest but right now there are so few games exclusive to it, meaning there's not a big reason to have it if you're looking for a console with good games. They are claiming to get more PSN (Playstation Net) downloadable games, enough to compete with the 360's live arcade but Xbox has such a hold on things right now its hard to say. The Xbox Live experience as a whole will always be better than a PS3 online. If Microsoft gets money to put up the best servers instead of Sony having no charge and trying to make a profit while competing with Microsoft, well its a losing battle there.
The fact that the PS3 comes with a Bluray player is an incredible selling point. Its amazing how much a standalone Bluray player costs. They are already losing money when they first started selling it. If the PS3 wants to win they had better find a way to lower the price even more and still make money on games.
The PS3 has so much functionality with a PSP its amazing! Like playing Ridge Racer and using the PSP as a rear view mirror is so cool. The ONLY "legal" way to play PSone games on the PSP is to buy a PS3, so that might spark people's interest.
I would have to say, they will both be popular because there are so many gamers now and people are finding their niche in gaming. There are many people that already have a 360. Sony might pull through though.

A couple of words.
Sega Dreamcast . . . . . . Nintendo 64.
Ps2 got off to the same start as PS3 and destroyed these systems in sales.
What Americans fail to realize is that 360 is only popular in America. Everywhere else its PS and Nintendo. 6 people where I work have dumped their 360s and gotten PS3s in the last 4 or 5 months!
PS3 will wind up selling and having a better future than 360. Especially now that Halo 3 is outand the only promising exclusive I see is Fable 2. Every other awesome game is either multiplatform or PS3 exclusive.
Time will tell.

I agree with Jeseth. PS2 had a slow start too, but it totally killed Nintendo. Nintendo consoles were working great then. Now competition is even easier for PS3, because 360 is just a bunch of malfunctions. In January 2007 I was thinking of getting a new console, so I went through tons of materials - 360 has so many malfunctioning issues. I got PS3 and very happy. It's stronger, than 360 and it has MUCH better perfomance.
I saw sales graph, that showed that PS3 sales are repeating PS2 steps - slow start, but better sales after. Sony has all cards now with the release of much cheaper 40GB version. More than 300 games are coming to PS3 soon - what else can I say?

360's still out number ps3 and looks like it will continue to do so. I saw the stats on the news the other day. Can't remember what they were but I remember that 360 was still ahead.
