I am assuming that if you are traveling to go shopping, bargains are not your first concern.

1.Beverly Hills. Best shopping - period. Also centrally located to the Westside and Santa Monica.

2. Melrose Ave between Fairfax and LaBrea - if you are a bit younger. (close to Beverly Hills).

Of course Los Angeles has Factory outlets, but they probably have those where you live so why travel to go there.

Dont bother with downtown. Kingsley is referring to the Santee Alley. I enjoy going there but I know some of the vendors. Its extremely crowded and 99% of the stuff there is crap that will fall apart after the first or second washing.
