okay.. this might be a stupid questionp but... do fleas fly? and do they get in human hair like lice? anyway... this is my game plane.. let me know what you guys think.
on firday.. the day before we move to our new house.. we are gonna fumigate our current apt with 3 fumigation cans.. so that the fleas wont move with us.. then that same say.. we will take mannie (our pug) back to the groomers to have a deep flea bath... then on sunday we are going to give him frontline.. or should we give it to him tomorrow before the deap flea bath..whichever is most effective.. your imput is appreciated. i just wnat to get rid of these fleas asap... my family including my abby is getting eaten alive!! thanks guys!!!

Have a flea dip done, then put frontline plus on him. You can buy flea bombs relatively cheap at Wal Mart and places like that. Bomb the house while the dog is at the groomers so that he doesn't just bring them back in the house. The combination of the dip and the frontline should take care of the problem.
Really, it will be OK once you take the proper precautions. Make sure you keep up on his flea treatments (frontline can be applied every four weeks) and you won't have to worry about it again.

p.s. you buy buy a flea comb to see if he has fleas. I know its difficult to see them when they're on a black dog. If he has fleas, little black things will show up on the comb.

Don't use ANY treatment from a pet store, many are dangerous, and none work. Pet stores aren't licensed to sell the proper chemicals for flea treatment - anything you find in store is just going to be a basic pesticide that you can't expect to work.

Stick with advice from the vets. They're right about the fleas. The fleas are fairly unlikely to actually hurt you, other than make you crazy itchy. They're pretty gross. Sorry, but having animals is expensive. Flea treatment is one of the least expensive things - you can get cheap stuff if you want, but it will be the biggest waste of money of all! Just get some Frontline and a house spray from your vets.

take him to your vet and get him on advantix if you are moving soon ask your vet for a capstar and give it to the pup on the way to the new house. This pill will kill all fleas on the pup, but will not keep any from jumping on. So keep him in a kennel for the trip, it takes about 1/2 hour to work. I have an animal adoption agency and we use it on our animals before they enter the shop if we suspect they have fleas. Make sure you keep up on the once a month treatment from your vet and you will be safe from fleas!!

I would suggest going to your vet & asking for CapStar - that's what worked for us. It's a pill and it's supposed to work in about 20 minutes. You just give it to your pet as needed. Frontline didn't do anything...it was just a waste of money. I have also heard great things about Advantix but haven't tried it.

For your home I would try washing everything you can, and get some carpet powder that supposedly is supposed to kill fleas & their eggs.

Call your vet. He will advise you what to do. Don't get any over the counter stuff. They are toxic and only do a halff a$$ job.

You regret getting your dog now just because he has fleas???? Good Lord!

You should flea bomb the house your moving from and get the stuff from the vet for your dog.

I really feel sorry for you being in this predicament, but if your wee dog has fleas you would see them, as he has a short coat, they should be easily identified. I would suggest that you really look through his coat, and remember, the fleas lay eggs and keep on going. A really good flea wash for a few days should do the trick, good luck with the problem.

It might be possible that he had flees when you first got him, and no they are just on you and your family. He''s proabbly scratching because of the bite he alrady had. If you jsut sit there on the couch, see if you spot ir feel little black things on your arms, they are most lieley flees.

FRONTLINE!!!! awesome stuff, don't wash him 2 days either side of using it as the skin has to be a a neutral PH level for the product to work to its full potential.
