Chest x-rays have some of the lowest doses of radiation of all imaging procedures. We routinely do follow up chest x-rays when we are following a pneumonia or infiltrate. In the hospital settings, every morning, you can see radiologic technologists on the floor with their portable x-ray machines doing daily chest x-rays on some in patients. Also, when you get a chest x-ray, the radiation dose is to your chest, not your uterus/ovaries or testicles. X-rays do not fly all willy nilly around a room. They are highly directed beams of radiation which only expose the area of interest (in your case, the chest) to radiation.

"The chest x-ray is one of the lowest radiation exposure medical examinations performed today. The effective radiation dose from this procedure is about 0.1 mSv, which is about the same as the average person receives from background radiation in 10 days.....State-of-the-art x-ray systems have tightly controlled x-ray beams with significant filtration and dose control methods to minimize stray or scatter radiation. This ensures those parts of a patient's body not being imaged receive minimal radiation exposure."

"There has been a rapid decline in radiation exposure per medical procedure due to technological advances. Speed of x-ray film has increased in the past 30 years or so by a factor of at least four. Refinements in x-ray beams have reduced patient exposure by at least tenfold. Current patient dose is about 2 to 5% of what it was in 1975. "

There's probably minimal risk, if that much. I wouldn't worry a bit about cancer developing from just 2 x-rays.

it would be a very low risk, it's usually more harmful to pregnant ladies, however they usually protect patients with a lead apron
