they shouldnt have joined a terrorist orginization and they wouldnt be locked up

i always lived by this motto

you cant do the time dont do the crime

and besides they eat better and have better health care locked up in there and no pesky suicide shias to worry about

EDIT i agree with abdul the jews were just miding their own business when they were imprisoned the people in gitmo are armed soldiers captured during an armed conflict and are prisoners of war not innocents like the jews but then again it takes a muslim to liken taliban fighters to jewish prisoners right?

What I find shocking is that we are even debating whether or not torture should be used. Torture is barbaric, and the history of it in trying to get valid military intelligence shows that is extremely ineffective because often people will say what their tormentors want to hear simply to stop the torture. When it was announced that "waterboarding" was not considered torture, but that it simulated drowning, I was stunned - if somebody were trying to make me feel like I was drowning I would DEFINITELY consider that torture.

However, even thought the US is now stupidly using these techniques, they do not compare to the atrocities committed by the Nazis. The Nazis murdered millions, tortured millions, maimed millions, committed genocide, performed horrific medical experiments on people, and tried to advanc an idea that is clearly ridiculous - that they were "racially superior" to others. What the US is doing is NOT good, but compared to the Nazis? That's carrying the analogy to far. By the way, you do know that it was the US and its allies that defeated the Nazis, uncovered the concentration camps and exposed the Nazi horrors to the world, right? You also know that the Muslim extremists are torturing and KILLING anyone that doesn't agree with them? I don't agree with torture, but I do understand why the US is desperate to stop the fanatical killers.

To "Hope" above: I've got news for you - I didn't vote for George Bush (twice!) and I do NOT approve of many of the foreign policies of the US government. Do not confuse the GOVERNMENT of the US with the PEOPLE of the US - this is why President Bush currently has extremely poor approval ratings - the majority of the American PEOPLE do NOT approve of what he is doing or his policies, including me.

Yes, Nazis probably made excuses like 'these are dangerous people who need to be tortured for yours and my safety.' Pretty much what George Bush says about those in Guantanamo Bay. Its funny how lots of people seem to think that everyone in Guantanamo Bay is guilty of 'terrorism' when George Bush has committed the worst terrorist crimes yet. A message to all Americans: just because it happens to be your government that is war mongering, does not mean they are doing the right thing and also, people in Guantanamo bay are put in there WITHOUT TRIAL so they are not even proved to be guilty. I don't think Fox news has told you that yet.

Really Nazis were less official in their work so they failed to legitimise their deeds. In next generation they have plan to learn a lesson from GITMO.

And both Nazis and Americans ATE FOOD! They MUST be the same!

Wait until Americans start a genocide. Then you can make all the comparisons you want. Until then, you're being stupid and offensive.

You are comparing apples and oranges, and are demonstrating a total lack of historical perspective by trying to draw that parallel.

I'm not sure, but you don't see USA taking hostages and making videotapes of cutting the hostages heads off in the name of God while reading from the Bible when they dont get their way.
