Great question. I believe God made us to last. Not this earthly body, but He will give us new bodies in heaven. I believe that God loves us equally and He wants us to choose to be with Him in heaven.
He protects our eternal life until we reach the age of accountability. When we are at the age or time in our life that we have enough of knowledge to make our decision, then we need to be born again. We are going to be Judged by how much we have knowledge around us.
So, my answer is no. We are not destined to hell. We were in God's care even before we were born and God has a plan for all of us. However, free will makes things interesting here.

A Calvinist believes that most of mankind are predestined to Hell and they don't even have the option to be born again.

God does not want anyone to suffer torment forever. He gives us the choice in this life - acknowledge that we have come short of the glory of God, that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, and believe that Christ died for us. If we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved.
There are two births: 1) Your physical birth 2) Your spiritual birth. The physical birth is when you were born in sin. The spiritual birth is when you accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord of your life, and the blood He shed covers your sins.

You might be making reference to the Pauline Gospel.
The Original Kingdom Gospel and the parable of the Prodigal Son tells quite a different story.
My advice to anyone is to get back to the Original Gospel that Jesus actually preached.

Basically yes. We were born of the water(ie in the womb) and if we are not 'born again' of the Spirit, then you are not saved.
In effect this means your Spirit being infused with the 'Love for God'

You are correct! You must be born again in order to see Jesus' face in peace.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Rom 10:9-13 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
God explains it very good
Heaven is free. you earned hell

No, your brain shuts off, your organs stop working, and you are as cold, stiff and dead as the stuff lying around your desk. Either you rot in the ground, or you're crumbly. What a choice!
