At 6 week old your puppy should still be with it's mother for at least another 2 weeks. You need to check with the vet what is suitable to use on a puppy that is so young.

Bathe with a puppy shampoo or dawn dish detergent. Flea shampoos are very harsh and can over dry the skin. When bathing use a flea comb to comb through the fur and remove as many fleas as possible. Then follow up with a visit to the vet to learn about and obtain appropriate flea control medication.

First of all, don't use ANYTHING from a pet store. For starters, you won't find anything for animals under 12 weeks - this is because pet store stuff is useless, and often dangerous - it shouldn't even be used on adult animals!
Veterinary spot-ons work, and can be used on animals from 8 weeks of age. Until that time, you can get some Frontline spray from your vet, it's safe to use on puppies and kittens from 2 days of age.
If people on here suggest Dawn dish soap, flea shampoo or anything from a pet store: don't waste your time and money.

I don't know what your doing with a puppy so young, it should be at least 8 weeks. Anyhow ask your vet, don't buy anything over the counter. It's toxic to your pet and doesn't work.

If he is over 2lbs, he can use frontline. If not, then your vet could give you advice on just using a couple of drops of frontline or frontline spray. I use it all the time through pregnancy, lactation, and even on puppies. Your vet could give you his ideas on that, but I know mine always suggests the stuff.
