The Grand Princess began sailing in 1998. It was Princess' first ship that is too big to fit through the Panama Canal. Here is a link to some additional information about the Grand Princess ...

The Grand Princess is a beautiful ship! We cruised on this ship in December 2002 when we got married, out of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Lovely ship, great food, excellent service. Only downside = slightly 'older' crowd. Depending on your age and what you like to do onboard the ship for activities, you may find it a little 'tame' by comparison to Carnival or even RCI.

I cruised on the Grand its first year. Its a greats ship with very nice decor and amenities. What I remember about it most was it great nightclub high on the back of the ship. It was great there for the disco and also just to have a great spot to view the ocean pass by. The remainder of the ship was typical cruise line stuff, multi-story atrium, huge show room, multi-level dining room with a huge picture window on the back.
