Sounds like a tick. Get to the vet. Ticks carry disease. The vet can remove the tick - you could do it yourself, but best watch the vet do it first - and then get some Spot On or other tick treatment and use it as directed.

It sounds like a tick. Take hold of it & push it to one side & you should be able to see its tiny legs wiggling right next to your dogs skin. When I say tiny I mean you may need a magnifying glass to see them.
If that is the case then you will have to remove it.
Take hold of it between your finger & thumb.
Turn it clockwise while pulling gently until it lets go.
If you fail on the first attempt you will just need to pull harder as you turn it the next time.

MY dog had this 2. At first we didn't know what it was but when we went to the dog daycare center they told us it was a tick and they took it off. They told us not to walk by the lake or anywhere else ticks could be.

It does sound like a tic get him to vet to check out the swelling. The tic itself should have dropped off by now but it must have caused an infection if there is swelling around the area.

Sounds like an engorged tick and you need to remove it carefully, so you get the head out. It can make your dog sick.
That's why I use Frontline Plus, so the ticks are killed by the chemical in their system if they bite my dogs.

Could be anything from a skin tag to a tumor. Go to the vet and put your mind to rest. My Lab has a skin tag so it isn't uncommon.

It could be an abscess, it could be a hot spot, It could be an embedded tick, either way you need to take your dog to a vet.

Take him to your vet to have it removed. They can give him steroids or antibiotics whichever is needed.
There is one type of melanoma that looks similar to that. You do need to see a vet for this rather than trying to treat it yourself.
