I have an essay due on St. Cecilia, and I don't know why i want to write about her, all I really know is that she is the patroness of musicians. I also need help on facing few of my atheist friends on the truth. it scares me to know they dont believe in the Holy Trinity. PLUS, anyone ever heard of the litany of humility?

st cecilia is a great saint -- have fun loopking her up. see if you can get on line to get pictures from the Basilica of santa cecilia in Rome. if you can't email me your address and i can forward you pictures. on the main altar is a marble sculpture of how she was found in her tomb. im 1599 on 20 october cardinal sfondrati had the tomb opened - a cypress wood coffin enclosed in another or marble were found. inside the body of the saint was found intact, laid out and wrapped in a white gold-gilt vestment. the sculpture is amazing - is shows her so humble, gentle, relaxed and just resigned to God.

her story takes place in the 3rd century AD. she was a devout gal and engaged to a pagan. she did get him to come to Christ and also explained the Trinity to him - he was baptised. they prayed and worked together for conversions of sinners & pagans.
Valerian (her husband) was beheaded becyase he would not [ay homage to a statue of jupiter. when it was her turn she too refused. she for some reason was given respite. she then invited urban (pope urban) to her home where they becgan over 400 conversions to Christ & her home became a place of worship to our Lord. she was then sentenced to be killed in her bathroom but the heat didn't sufficate her it refreshed her. then they ordered beheading and that too - struck 3 times (in honour of the Trinity maybe?!?!?) and it still didn't work. she survived, on the floor for three days singing the praises of God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit.
her home became a place of continued worship to out Lord!!

here's a favorite place for some litanies..... http://www.catholicdoors.com/prayers/litanies.htm

as for the athiests and Trinity -- you would be better off getting them to know God first and then try to explain the beautiful mystery of the Trinity. start simple, keep it basic.

Marysia gave a great answer,as for your Atheist friends you do not need to enforce your belief in the Holy Trinity upon them as they will never understand the great mystery that we Catholics hold as truth in faith,do not cast your pearls before swine as Jesus told us.
