Hi

I have a job offer in australia and am in the process of getting the sponsorship visa sorted. It may well be the case that the visa is granted a couple of weeks after I plan to arrive in sydney. My question is, will I be allowed in australia on a non return flight if my working visa isn't finalised??

It's in process. They still have the opportunity to deny you (you don't know for certain if you have been accepted, unless you have a letter of acceptance or if they have told you). If you go to Australia on a one way flight you risk being deported or sitting in Immigration for a few hours while they speed things up for you.

Call them up and see if they can expediate the process.

You are only assuming that the Visa will be granted on arrival in Australia. You are well advised to get a return ticket for the journey. In fact in many cases A return ticket is cheaper than the Single. For reasons that they both come under different fare structures.By not having a return ticket you are intimating to the OZ immigration people that you will not be returning. It is hardly a good start to enter another country and not having money to subside on during your visit.Their are good fares available to Sydney at all times.

Good Question. You should try Australia House with this question to make sure there will be no problem, you can get one way tickets to Australian Destinations due to flying back from other Airports.

one of the answers is completely wrong ,you can not go anywhere on a one way ticket .It isn't the airlines its the immigrations so I would imagine Australia is no different than other Country's ,and if what you are saying is true you would have been told by the ausies anyway

Yes, of course
You can go anywhere on a one way flight, airlines don't care. They just assume that you will buy another one way flight back from there when your vacation is over.

Of course, they also have higher prices on their one way tickets, so, they also assume that it would be a good thing for you to do two one way tickets.
