I have a small area rug that I can't get to stay in place on my carpeted floor.

Try some Velcro strips on the area rug. Not the gripper part just the teeth part. You can buy a small roll or pieces. Place about four or more pieces on the area rug. Good Luck

Go to someplace that sells rugs and get a non-skid pad to put under the rug. You can cut these thin pads into a size that fits your rug. They feel like rubber. Some hardware stores also sell these handy items.

You could get some velcrow and sick one in each corner of the rug so you can pull it up when ever you want to move it.
