I was wondering because I came here at age 3 and I'm 30 now. Does that make me a first generation American or will my first child be one?

It's your child who will be a first generation American. It means the first generation born here. Having come as a child, you almost slip through the cracks.... I can see where you would be confused by it. Technically, you would have to have been actually born here to be first generation.

Did your parents come here legally, and have you and your parents become naturalized citizens? If not, then you need to go home.
