I've been really hungry lately. I've been trying to lose weight, but I find myself eating a lot at night because I'm so hungry.
I've been to the point of crying because I feel so bad about myself. I exercise and I'm eating around 1400 calories but have been eating around 700 calories extra over the last week.
I'm petrified of gaining weight and inevitably i have...
I was wondering if there is anything I can do to be less hungry. How many grams of protein, fat, and carbs are we supposed to get a day?
I'm a vegan, so obviously I don't eat any animal products or meat, so I need other protein sources. I'm thinking about cutting the peanuts out of my diet. (I've been on this diet for about two days)
I'm just really stressed about my stomach as well. What is the best way to tone it up?

It is about moderation and WHAT you eat. Eating more fiber might help you feel more "full" and is not a big source of calories.

Eating at night is not the best idea...as it is usually followed with inactivity.

Try eating several small meals a day that are high in fiber.

Nuts and tofu are high in protein, so you probably don't need to worry about eating just that, but your not eating enough food during the day so your body is responding by causing you to get really hungry at night and your responding by overeating at night.

You need to eat more. You also should eat some whole grains. Don't worry too much about calorie counting, because vegetables are high in fiber, so you will be absorbing less calories. Also, if you eat healthy your body will naturally come down to a healthy weight.

You should never lower your caloric intact below 80% the amount of calories you need to maintain your weight, or else you will start starving.

We still don't really understand how hunger works. There is a theory that we keep eating until we get the protien that we need, which means that when we don't have enough protien we want to keep eating (Locusts do this when they destroy vaste areas of crop land).

Ok, so what can you do.

Firstly, you don't have to be so ambitious with your diet. You may want to start with a high calorie diet. If you do a lot of exericse or active all day you will use more calories and so want to eat more carbs.

Alternatively you could look at other techniques. For example, drinking those high fibre drinks that fill up your stomach or using things that suppress appetite (coffee is one example).

If you have to snack you should make sure you snack on things that are healthy. The problem with dieting is that we get hungry then most of the available snack foods are high in fat and we get fatter.

Make sure to read the information on the site below so you can really UNDERSTAND how to lose weight instead of following the stupidity that makes you fat. EAT FRUIT AND EAT IT FIRST. It is not how much you eat but what you eat. Also stress has no calories but is extremely fattening and makes you depressed and miserable.

There are more diets than ever and more people dieting than ever and yet we have the fattest society ever. So a lot of these ideas about losing weight, make you fatter. Cutting calories, carbs and fats can cause you to have a weight problem for life. It is better to eat differently. See site below and learn why lean meat and non-fat yogurt are so fattening. The people counting calories are the fat people.

Also salt has no calories but makes you fat. This also has the quickest weight loss possible. Eat good carbs, not bad carbs. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Eat foods made by nature
and avoid foods made by man which are designed to make you fat and very addicted to food. Do the ninja warrior diet (not a diet but a diet lifestyle).

Well it comes from the root word vegetables, so obviously salads and fruits. Being a vegetarian is bad for the development of young people due to lack of nutrients and proteins your body NEEDS to function properly. Being a vegetarian is much different than being a true VEGAN, which is when you don't eat ANYTHING from animals such as milk. If you are already fully developed, I suppose you may become a vegetarian to lose weight or stop animal cruelty. No, tofu isn't enough. Try adding daily supplements such as yogurt and protein bars to your diet. Hope this helped and good luck :)

Sounds like you need some protein in your diet. Being vegan doesn't mean that all you can eat are vegetables. There are lots of fake meats that are delicious. (They are made out of products like soy.) I think that if you start eating things with more substance, instead of just a salad for example, you will start to feel more full and in turn eat less late at night.

Also, don't stress out. Stress can lead to even more of an imbalance in your body. Try to relax about everything and take it one day at a time. Otherwise, you'll just drive yourself nuts, no pun intended.

I wish I knew. I do the same thing as you although I'm not a vegan. I try and try and try but, when I'm home alone at night, and bored and depressed, I eat. It makes me feel better while I'm eating it, but after, when I'm all full, I feel like a pig. It sucks. I work out hard every day but I can't help eating too much. And I end up hating myself because of it.

First of all peanuts are good for you but are fattening.
Drink plenty of water to fill you up and it also flushes out nasties.
And finally, make sure you eat regular meals, as if you don't eat at all, your body goes into starvation mode and will store fat.
The best way to tone your tum is to do crunches and not normal sit ups.... but do them slowly as it uses more muscle and will tone faster. When you do normal situps, put your hands on your head, and when you 'sit up' do a gentle twist so it will tone up your love handles too.
Good luck.

I am no expert, but you're simply not eating enough right now. If you are so -- well, pardon the word, but -- obsessed with diet and weight, I think you'll find it well worth the cost to consult just once with a certified nutritionist who is vegan-sympathetic and develop a GENERAL diet plan, then relax and stick with it.

Tone-up: depressing, sorry, but it's those wretched situps.

Good luck.
