I found 2 orphan kittens by the road and decided to help them.
I started feeding them milk not knowing it was bad for them :( I didn't have any internet access cause i was at the beach.
once I got back home I did research and to my horror milk is very bad for them .. :(
that very moment I went to the local pet store and bought some KMR..
during these 3 days they didn't poo at all, only pee and to my surprise they knew how to use the litter box.
the pee is clear which I read is good but they won't poo, I have tired stimulating them with a warm cotton and towel but nothing :(
they seem very happy though, their stomachs are not round, they only cry when they are hungry, no vomit and love playing with each other. they are roughly 4-5 weeks and i starting giving them solid food mixed with KMR which they enjoy :) this is day 5 and no poo though, i wanted to go to the vet but my mum doesn't want to pay and im a student with next to no money.. all my money goes to uni items and rent, help :(

it could have been that they were so hungry from being on the streets that their bodies are absorbing all the nutrients and they dont have anything to poop yet. i mean, im not doctor but thats what my vet told me after my puppy was sick and didnt eat for a few days, she told me when she would start eating again it might take a while before she would poop again. so try leaving down alittle more food than what you feed them incase that is the problem. and if it is, it should be solved pretty quickly .. the little boogers will poop away a storm!

Well I have a 3 1/2 week old kitten that I found in the road when he was about 2 weeks old. I was also worried because he wasnt pooping, but he was peeing. Come to find out that he had to been starved because when he finally did poop it was literally 3.5 inches long. He had no poop in his intestions and he had to build it back up first. This could be very likely to why your kitty isnt pooping?? I dont think giving him the milk you did will cause him to not be pooping.. Just watch for signs of bloating. (Kittens stomach usually get round and full after they eat, but if it stays that way and feels hard then he is bloating.) If he is bloated there could be a serious problem, suchas twisted intestions, digestive system shut down, worms, etc. Also I would look for signs of them trying to poop (where you see the anus hole pushing out, but no poop) If you got bloating and that I would consult a vet. Also make that kitten walk around. If he lays around to much he is very likely to become constipated.... Hopefully this is helpful.. If you need anything else let me know.

So far you're doing a great job. But "mommy" does do something that you're not doing to help the babies poop. She cleans the kitties anus and that encourages the kitty to poop.

You may have to rub your finger in a light circular motion around the kittie's anus to help it along. Don't press or go too fast. Try this a few times and if that doesn't help by the next morning, a trip to the vet may be in order.

You may also try and put some hairball jelly or vitamin jelly (for cats, of course) on the kitties anus and see if it will clean it off. This could prevent you from having to do the "dirty work" with your finger.

You have done EVERYTHING right so far and so very good of you too. You will be rewarded in more ways than you know for your goodness.

You can try some clear chicken broth (boil a bit of chicken with or without the bones), that'll give them a nutritional easy to digest protein fluid with a little substance.
And dab a wee bit of Vasoline petroleum jelly on their nose to lick off for a safe effective mild laxative, if no poop in next couple days and you're still concern.
Evaporated milk diluted with water and raw egg YOLK only is also good to build their strength and for protein.

The best to you.

I wouldn't panic yet. Its possible they hadn't eaten in a while and may not have had enough solids yet. You are doing all the right things. Your kittens aren't suffering from a hard, distended or tender abdomen, and that is a good sign. Your kittens may need a laxative(katalax) or a small bit of warmed petroleum jelly rubbed into their anus as a suppository to encourage defecation(poo). The link below has additional information. Hope this helps. Good Luck and God Bless.

Oh, and keep stimulating their bottoms with warm damp cloths(to imitate their mother's licking to encourage poo)as often as possible(after each feeding worked for me). I applaud you for taking them in.

Give each of the kittens just a tiny amount of Crisco or Cod Liver Oil or even Vaseline mixed in with their food. Just a tiny amount now!

You didn't mention what you are feeding them. Kittens digestive systems aren't as developed as mature cats. Try also switching to a good canned food like Iams or something.

Keep saving up your money because if these things don't work you'll have to take them to your vet.

Good Luck!

Was the cloth Wet? Because at that age their mamma's lick their bottoms to get them to go. Call the vet and tell them what is up, that you have no money and you need advice on what to do. Its good you are giving them formula, just keep watching them real closely and if you can't get a answer from the vet then a shelter or the pet store often has people who can answer those questions.

Orphaned Kittens Not Pooping

Give them a couple more days. Kittens are funny and may have pooped in a secluded area and you haven't found it yet. They were probably close to starving when you found them. Just watch then and if their tummy's get hard and distended then a vet may be the only answer. God Bless you for saving them!

You can get some infant glycerin suppositories ,break off a tiny piece and administer. The kitten should go within a few minutes.Or,you can add some cooked, mashed carrots to some canned kitten food. This should help them to go.
