How might the virus have spread from where it originated in China?

Last I heard, migratory birds were suspected as having carried the virus all around the world. Makes sense since the vast majority of organisms that are hit with the bird flu are birds. For the current strain of bird flu, humans are just an incidental (and very rare) host.
