I don't, I refuse. I can go somewhere with out having to be in touch. I am a bit anachronistic.

i will be very honest and say that my cell phone is annoying. when i wake up, there are so many messages and texts that i sometimes just listen to my messages every few days. carrying it is a pain because at disneyland, it's fallen out of my pockets but i found it but still...if i didn't have to carry a phone or some kind of technology piece on me, i wouldn't worry so much about answering calls, messages, etc. i remember when we didn't need cell phones but relied on home phones and we were able to "live" then but nowadays, ooohh-weeee, if you don't have the latest rage in the tech department, it's as if you are outta the loop. with my phone, i know how to answer a call and dial out, i don't even use the one touch thingy. i barely can text. and i'm asian! now ain't that a rarity?!! an asian that isn't really into the cell phone, portable technological age of the day. hey, call me the
old-fashioned asian!! now that is something very new.

I like the fact that if my car breaks down or some other emergency occurs, i can contact someone. As someone else said I am no slave to my phone. I don't answer calls from unknown callers, they can leave a message, if they don't, I won't call back.

Also it annoys me when people get all worked up because I did'nt answer their call. If i'm relaxing or eating a meal, driving (it's illegal to drive and use your phone without a hands free set up in Australia), or watching a movie I won't answer my phone.

Bottom line is my phone does not control my life.

PS. I remember back in the 90's when mobile/cell phones were owned only by business people. You would see them talking on their phones as they walk down the street, and one would think to themself, "Poor guy, he does'nt any privacy". These days you are abnormal if you don't have one. Funny how technology changes society.

I have no need to constantly be in touch. It's a pain when I have to carry it because I am on call!

I think cell phones are foolish.

There is no one so important in the grand scheme of things that they cannot be out of reach for several hours.

We have been sold a bill-of-goods and many have bought into it.

Meanwhile, my total phone bill is about 23.00 a month.......and that includes calls to my son who lives in Hawaii..............

I carry one but am not a SLAVE to it. That was my promise to myself when I got it. It can be a real convenience, but it can be a bother, too.

Have a polite day.

Turn it off!
The funny thing is also, that people get upset when you cannot answer.

Who knows what the long term effects will be on us. Anybody here can predict?

agreed. it's nice in a an emergency, but that's all i'd ever use one for. i did think about an iPhone, though, for the music and internet capability. still too expensive
