Christianity is all about the scapegoat idea, so why not just use a balloon scapegoat and get on with your life, a better life without the baggage...your thoughts?

We Jews use bread crumbs on the water (no priests these days, so we don't do the goat thing); it feeds the ducks, too!

Well, you can't get into space by using balloons. They'll rise only to the point where the atmosphere is thin enough to balance the lightness/thinness of the helium. But, if you want to lift a 55lb dog and send it far away using helium balloons... I'm not sure exactly, but I think it would take somewhere in the 1000-2000 range. Also be aware of where you're launching from and which way the winds are blowing--if you're anywhere near the Pacific coast and you're catching an easterly, you WILL kill the dog.

Actually Judaism back in the days of the Israelites in the wilderness was about scapegoats. Christianity is about Jesus' one sacrifice being sufficient forever.

Filling a helium balloon is not a sufficient PUNISHMENT for wrongdoing! By that logic, we should have every murderer inflating balloons as a just punishment for their deeds. Sorry... but that just doesn't fly!
Let's go back aways... and with the help of "gotquestions.org" see if we can't clarify this for you....
God created earth and man perfectly. But when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command, He had to punish them. A judge who pardons law-breakers isn’t a good judge. Likewise, overlooking sin would make the holy God unjust. Death in hell is God's just consequence for sin. “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Even good works cannot make up for wrongs against the holy God. Compared to His goodness, “All our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment” (Isaiah 64:6b)
Remember, the holy God cannot let sin go unpunished. If we bore our own sins, we would suffer judgment in the flames of hell. Praise God.
The Gospel says, “For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified [made righteous/good] by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
I hope you can understand these concepts better now.
Have a blessed day.
