Most States require the registration to be in the vehicle. When stopped by law enforcement, you will be asked for license, registration and proof of insurance. A thief having the registration could not do much with it. Do not leave the title in the car.

In my state it's required. Most newer cars aren't that easy to steal unless you leave the keys in it-or you could install an alarm or lojack if it worries you. Full coverage insurance will cover theft also.

It is a requirement you have the registration with you when driving. It is not a requirement it be in the car when it is parked.
