It varies. Basic pay depends upon rank and years of service. An E-4 with over 2 years of service earns a basic pay of $1,786.50 per month. Many military personnel receive more than that, however, depending upon their individual circumstances. If authorized to live off post they will receive a quarters allowance that is based upon location and marital status as well as a subsistence allowance. Depending upon their location and other factors there may be other pay due the member as well.

What someone receives after taxes depends upon their gross taxable pay (not all military pay is taxable) and the number of withholding allowances that they claim. So, it is not possible to give you a pat answer.
