TOO LATE

i got my period like a year ago and it lasted only like 3 days and VERY little blood! but now it has progressed to around 7 days and i lose more blood each time!!! if i had to estimate how much i lost last time i would say around 5 pints( since 1 is average) i feel dizzy and have stomachaches during my period rather than before it( nothing happens before) should i be concerned or is this normal?

ok what you have is an irregular menstrual period. my gf has that same problem and she went to her gynecologist and he prescribed her anti conceptive pills to regulate her cycle. this pills will control the bloodflow, cramps, bloating, and the dates will be similar every month therefore you can feel more secure and ready to do things you regularly wont be able to do while on your period. this is one of the options because if you just got your period your body need time to regulate and get balanced hormonally. if im a guy talking to you about this is because my gf has the same prob, and i have read about this. hope things get better and hope i could help.

Well a girls period does change as you grow up and it dosent really settle until you have had it for at least 2 years, so i wouldnt be too worried about it. it will probably change again and you will lose less blood.. but if you are getting dizzy i am pretty sure that it isnt a normal symptom, so i would talk to your mom (or sister) if you are not comfortable talking to your doctor.. but the dizziness is something to be concerned about although it could just be normal for you.. every girl is different...

Well it sounds like it is just getting heavier but if you are feeling dizzy then I recommend talking to an OBGYN for a medically professional answer! Someone might tell you that you are fine on here and something could be very wrong so go to a doctor sweetie!

I had the same thing happen actually my period ended up lasting three weeks without stopping. Finally, went to the gyno and was put on medication. It took a few days after that to stop. GO TO THE DOCTOR ASAP.

Sorry, but you're getting an answer from a guy. The loss of that much blood will cause you to be iron-deficient (among other things). That is why you feel so weak and dizzy. Go see your GYN!

no, mine was the same way, so i am pretty sure its normal because ive had my perioud for 6 years now! it started out 2-3 days, now i get it 5-6... so your fine, as far as the bleeding goes, that varries from period to period, but if you are really concerned go see your doctor, but you will always feel dizzy from lots of blood loss, take care of yourself when you are on your period!

i am the same as you, dont worry its normal your body hasnt gotten used to the hormonal change yet but it will soon and the blood flow will decrease as time goes by so dont worry about it seeing as you only had it for one year how ever i would advice you to eat lots of sugars and iron rich food if you still have concerns visit your doctor and ask him to check if you have a hormonal imblance other than that you will be fine

well go see your doc about it but its normal for a period to fluctuate esp. i fyou arent on the pill and are just getting used to it. if you feel dizzy you could be anemic and losing too much blood so go see your doc. the pill can help regulate and shorten your periods and if you're too young dont worry, it will get better. i used to have the worst most painful periods when i was younger but now mine are short and light.

Yeah, that doesn't sound good. You could be losing too much blood- and therefore, becoming anemic. The same thing happened to a friend of mine- she actually fainted. She went to the doctor and had to get iron pills (for blood) and change her diet. Go see your doctor and get it sorted out.

If you're soaking through more than one regular pad or tampon in an hour it's considered abnormal. Go see your doctor. It could just be hormonal and birth control could help, but there's a chance that it's very serious. Don't put it off, go soon. I don't want to scare you, but it's important.
