If you believe in God and the bible is Gods word. In 1st Corinthians 10-13 it says God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. So it is in fact a test of faith. There is also a book written in the bible about a man and his faith in God. What Satan did to try and break that faith. Its the book of Job if you have time give it a quick read.

The covenant of the New Testament provides for the salvation of the eternal soul thru Jesus, Son of the one true God. When a person enters into this covenant, their sins are "washed away" and they are assured the kingdom of heaven.
Now, where in this does it say that "bad things" aren't going to happen? Where in this does it say that it's only going to be a bed of roses? Where in this does it say that you won't be tempted to sin by any of the very many false gods in the world?
My faith is in the love and mercy of the one true God. I rejoice in the assurance of the kingdom of heaven.
If "bad things" happen, then they happen. I deal with them. I pray for strength and guidance.

Faith encourages. By faith we overcome. When we overcome, our faith grows because we are more and more confident that the Lord is able to overcome. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.

Faith comes into play with my beliefs that all things happen for a reason, and that at times i must overcome difficulties if for nothing else but to be an example and to be able to give others who have gone through similar situaltions hope....
Faith is not bleieving we know, Faith is knowing that we believe.

Through Prayer first. I do not ask Him to move mountains, I ask Him to help me climb them. The faith comes when I first believe that He will get me over the mountain before I even start my climb.

Sometimes we have to walk through the storm to get to the rainbow.
We often have to take small steps in our journey before completing our purpose. So when we think of things this way it is easier to go through the bad times with joy knowing that this to will pass.

It provides inner strength to bear the pain. It also points out ways of overcoming the 'bad' situation.

I can only recommend you a personal fav of mine (this one I prayed so hard so many times as I was deciding not to suicide myself -for real-) that I ended up learning it by heart...and that´s how my faith never declines...so here´s it:
1 O THOU to whose all-searching sight
The darkness shineth as the light,
Search, prove my heart; it pants for thee;
O burst these bonds, and set it free!
2 Wash out its stains, refine its dross,
Nail my affections to the cross;
Hallow each thought; let all within
Be clean, as thou, my Lord, art clean!
3 If in this darksome wild I stray,
Be thou my light, be thou my way;
No foes, no violence I fear,
No fraud, while thou, my God, art near.
4 When rising floods my soul o'erflow,
When sinks my heart in waves of woe,
Jesu, thy timely aid impart,
And raise my head, and cheer my heart.
5 Saviour, where'er thy steps I see,
Dauntless, untired, I follow thee!
O let thy hand support me still,
And lead me to thy holy hill!
6 If rough and thorny be the way,
My strength proportion to my day;
Till toil, and grief, and pain shall cease,
Where all is calm, and joy, and peace.
Praying, man...it´s the way to go :)
