If you mean which variant Aikido school affiliation you should choose to join, then you need to ask yourself why you wanna learn Aikido? If it's to learn practical self defense then a choice between Hombu Aikido, Yoshinkan Aikido and Tomiki Aikido might be better suited for you as these schools emphasize physical techniques first over Ki development more than other variant schools. But if you wanna study Aikido only for the spiritual aspect as well as the health benefits then practitioners of Ki-Aikido emphasizes these attributes more in their daily lessons, their motto being "Ki first before technique".

Then there is TAKEDA AIKI JUTSU .Takeda was one of UYESHIBAS SENSEI's early instructors before UYESHIBA developed the more totally defensive AIKIDO.
AIKI JUTSU is a little more agressive or preemptive in some not all of it's methods and in a lot of cases a strike is used to set up the throw or lock.
Personally I think being totally defensive is a bad idea and trusting to something as elusive as ki energy is even worse.

Generally in the US there is kokikai and aikikai

I am having a lot of tourble finding objective explanations of each one, all the sites want to act like theirs is the best. But I BELIEVE kokikai is a litte more agressive than akikai. I would recommend you watch a class or 2 at each school u are thinking of attending.
