Yes. But I learned that God do not grant us what we want, but instead He gives us what we need.

Everyone who hoped in the Lord gets disappointed cause there ain't no heaven and no afterlife . Of course once you are dead you don't realize it , so maybe you really aren't disappointed .
Actually the only ones who don't get disappointed are the ones who are so brainwashed that they accept any little bone the Lord throws them . They ask for their mother to be cured of cancer and they thank god their insurance covered half the cost of the painkillers . They ask that their kidnapped child is returned safely and then they thank the Lord if the police uncover the severed head .

You ask if anyone has ever hoped in the Lord and been disappointed, I would say yes but I think that is because we are not seeing things from His perspective yet. He is definitely good and trustworthy. Sometimes, hurts cause disappointments but as believers, we must hold fast to His promises and seek Him all the more. Mercy me has a great song, called Hold fast, it says hold fast help is on the way. The Bible has many verses about hope. do u want some?

Every person who has prayed for the well being of a loved one, only to lose that person, has been disappointed. Millions die every year, so obviously millions are disappointed every year.

If there is a God, I do not believe he works that way. I think he created the world, put people on it, gave us the rule book, and set things in motion to see how things would turn out, without any further intervention from him. It seems to fit the evidence that we see all around us.

I have. However, I believe that ultimately I will not be disappointed. I believe that "All things work together for the good of those who love Christ and are called according to His purpose." I believe that God has a plan. It is a good plan because He is a good God. There is nothing I can do to mess up His plan, because He is able to bring His plan to fruition.
This life is a guantlet to be run. Disappointment is one of the stings that is visited upon us to shake our faith. The bible speaks of this in the 6th chapter of ephesians and advises us to put on the whole armour of God so that we might stand up against these things that will erode our faith, so that we might endure and come to the end of our days here with our faith intact.
Jesus said we would have trouble in this world, but He has gone to prepare a place for us and he will come back again. Meanwhile He wants us to love each other as He has loved us.

I have. The biggest disappointment is needing God to hear your pleas and getting nothing. For weeks. It might have even been understandable if I had need of god's help and it finally came the next day or the weekend. But to put years of faith in god that he will help you with so much adversity ... and getting nothing, EVER, is very damaging and hurtful and it's what turned me into an agnostic.

Yes, actually, I have.

BEFORE I placed my (honest and sincere) faith and trust in the love and mercy of the one true God, and entered into the covenant of the New Testament...(in other words, before I became Christian) I "thought" that I was "christian" because that's how I "was raised". I prayed but without a sincere heart and asked for selfish things. Unanswered prayers and difficult events in my life led to a "crisis of faith".

However, this "crisis of faith" eventually led me to the point that I opened my heart and my mind to salvation thru His Son, Jesus.

So, while I DID experience "disappointment" in my pre-Christian days, I look back and realize that it was caused by my insincerity and the fact that I had not yet given my life to Christ.

Have I been disappointed since my day of salvation? No.

Yep, but the believers always find a way to rationalize it. Usually by saying "god works in mysterious ways" or "the lord doesn't always answer prayers in the way we want or expect."

It's amazing the ways they can work around disappointment.

My father died of cancer. He was getting better, but a doctor made a mistake that made him worse, and it cost him his life.

My mother lost a lot of her faith after that and it took her a long time to regain it. She didn't go to church for a long time. She goes to church with my grandfather more often now, but I don't think her faith will ever be quite the same.

As for me, I was too young at the time to know about such mysterious things as faith. I was only six. I don't consider myself Christian anymore, and perhaps my father's death has something to do with it, perhaps not.

Of course, even God must be disappointed in our actions and speech often. How could we expect to be more satisfied than God?

God disappointed me (and even alienated me from him) by trying to brainwash me into accepting a non-virgin for marriage, when I myself am a virgin and plan to stay this way until marriage!
