You find God in the pages of Scripture. He has also made Himself known in the person of Jesus Christ (about whom Scripture is centered), who, by the way, was tortured, beaten, robbed, tormented and murdered. He only lived to about 33, but of course, he is God incarnate, and so after having taken all that for you and me, he rose from the dead. He knows everything you've been through, because he has suffered, and he knows everything anyway. But here's the deal, his people meet in churches. We're still sinners and we blow it, but we're the best game in town and God is working on us. We do need to take offerings to pay the bills, because nobody is forcing the members to pay, and if someone doesn't say, "here's an offering plate, put something in if you want Christ's church in this place to continue," we'd all just shut the doors and have no place to worship or learn or be shaped to better serve Christ and his kingdom. When we teach what God tells us to hold firmly to as truth, we have to look around and recognize that other religions are not holding to that truth but are deceiving people and actually leading them away from God. Should we not say something about this?? It is necessary. Christians ought not hate the people trapped in other religions, but there will be no love for other religions, per se, because religions are not inherently good. All they are, are systems of belief. Wrong systems will wind you up in hell. Christ has told us what it true. Stick to that, and find a church where you fit in and the people value the Bible. Then, the best way to get connected, and to feel connected to God is to get yourself into a small group at the church (a bible study or something), and then read the Bible for yourself. Pray to God. He says that if you draw near to him, he'll draw near to you. It's a promise, but don't write off his church because they ask for financial support or because they teach that the Bible is true and other things are not. Maybe you've just had a bad experience, but go have more experiences until you have positive ones. "Seek, and you will find" ~Jesus.

I hope this helped.

I have read all the advise you've received thus far, and there is a lot of good direction, but, there is one thing that MUST go along with these :

Forgiveness. Harbouring hate ( even seemingly justified ) keeps up a wall between you and Jesus.
Read these scriptures and pray....
I know it is hard to forgive some things ( took me a long time ), but persistence and the heart is what Jesus will be looking at.

Matthew 6:14,15 ....For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 18:35 ...So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Mark 11:24-26 ...Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any : that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. Gut if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

When JESUS was on the cross, after all the pain and defilement He went through, HE forgave :
Luke 23:34 ...Then said Jesus : Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do...

Be careful, lest a root of bitterness arise in you, and defile you....

May the Lord of FORGIVENESS, guide you...

You need to think about the morals that you abide by (or would like to abide by). Simple things like sexually orientation/nature/etc. and find the religion that fits ALL of those things. There is one for everybody. And if no specific religion meets those needs, create your own or just keep on praying. There is a higher power that is greater than you. It doesn't matter what religion you believe in to believe that (for the most part)

You can find God - one way- through Christ. You can pray, and go to church every day of your life, and you will not find God. Anyone who asks this question that you are asking must know that it is God that seeking you.
You asked this seriously so here the truth goes
1- first you must admit that you are a sinner. ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.- Romans 6:23.and THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD- Romans 3:23.
2- confess your sin, repent and turn to God- and accept Christ as your Savior, and you will be saved

There is no other way to God except through His Son- if you email we can talk more. God bless you and may He become very real to you.

i think that's set by utilising what you think the devil is. in case you assume that the devil is a real being that is going around spreading evil, then i don't be attentive to. notwithstanding, some women and adult men persons assume that evil is delivered on with the aid of a loss of God, e.G. absolutely everyone not taking note of God. the place case, there isn't particularly some component for God to love or hate, aside from a scarcity of God, in case you notice what I mean.

You have made the first step..... God will do the rest..... but you do need to find a place to support you and lift you up to God..... If not a church then a group of Christian people who will help council you through your troubles..... Start reading your Bible, at a slow pace, writing down any questions or thoughts you have as you go..... and ask...... satan has taken hold of you it sounds like, and is trying to hold you back.... satan does NOT have the power to do so, but he will make you think he does...... remember that !!!!!! You have all the power of God behind you, working for you..... I will not lie and say it will be easy, but it is possible, ALL things are possible in God !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL THINGS !!!!! If I can help just let me know....... Pray about it all first !!!! Pray from the heart...... go in peace ....... God bless

First of all, it's great that you see the hate and hypocrisy in church. That's not the way it's supposed to be!!!! God is not that way!!
Secondly, it's wonderful that you are seeking God! He is drawing you to Him. The Bible says that if you seek Him, you will find Him.
So, first...you must realize that everyone is a sinner. Sin is what separates us from God. But He came as a man to earth, as Jesus Christ to die for us becuase He loved us so much. He died so that we wouldn't have to spend eternity in hell. If you are truly sorry for your sins and give you life to the Lord, He will live in you. He will guide you and be with you all you days. As you seek Him and learn more about Him, you will love Him more, and learn more about His boundless love for you. Just come to Him, give everything to Him.
John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. " Whoever belives in the Lord will spend eternity with Him in heaven. The Bible also says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forigve us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". (I John 1:9). Call out to God. Cry out to Him for forgiveness and cleansing. He loves you with an everlasting and boundless love. Simply come to Him.
If you believe what I just told you, then pray to the Lord and tell Him that you realize that you are a sinner and that you believe that Jesus Christ took the punishment for your sins and ask Him to forgive you. Tell Him that you invite Him into your heart and life.
Don't put it off. You don't know what tomorrow, the next hour, may bring.

First of all, I am so sorry that you have suffered so many injustices in your life. The Bible says that God is a "lover of justice", so it also pains him to see people suffer. Perhaps you've prayed the Lord's Prayer: "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven..." Those words mean that God's heavenly kingdom will make changes here on earth, and all the wickedness and injustice and hate, along with those that cause it, will be removed from this earth.

Prov 2:21,22: "For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it."

So, God promises to remove the wicked and only allow "righteous" people to stay on this earth. To be counted as righteous we have to get to know God and then do his will.

Your question is: "How do I find God?" So, it sounds like you want to know more about him and how to get close to him.

John 17:3: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."

Getting to know God is more than just an emotional experience. Emotions are of course involved, but it also requires a careful study of God's Word, the Bible. Like you expressed, you haven't gotten any closer to God by going to various churches. It is possible to study the Bible right in your home, and the more you learn about God and his promises, the closer you will feel toward him. Jehovah's Witnesses will be happy to help you begin to learn about God and how to draw close to him. You can ask them next time they call at your door or you can call the local Kingdom Hall by looking in the phone book under "Jehovah's Witnesses," or you can go to www.watchtower.org and request a free home Bible study. Don't allow unkind comments by others (even on this site) to stop you from getting to know God.

Find a quiet place and just pour out your heart to Him. Talk to Him like someone you want to get to know....because that is what HE wants....for you to know Him. He will hear you..He promises that in the Bible.
" For I know the thought that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you and expected end. (hope in the end) Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and FIND ME, when ye shall search for me with ALL YOUR HEART." Jeremiah 29:11-13
That is a promise to you and God cannot lie. (Titus 1:2)
Just say I choose to believe in you, God, and I want to learn about you and get to know you. The way to God is through Jesus who died for our sins so that we can live....so when you pray to God, you need to pray in the name of Jesus.
I will pray for God to make Himself known to you...and keep you close to Him.

Keep looking until you find a good church. In the meantime, read the Bible (New Testament first). Keep praying. I'll pray for you. John 3:16
