I know I shouldn't have done this but I've been waxing my cheeks and now I have these terrible little red bumps everywhere. Some look like they are whiteheads, red bumps and clogged pores :(
Quick solutions? They are all over my cheeks so I don't want to dry it out with alcohol or anything and pay for the repercussions of fine lines later...

This is two days after waxing and they are not going away...

I had a similar reaction (not on the face) after waxing, but rest assured, it will go away!

The red bumps and whiteheads are the result of your hair follicles and pores becoming opened up after waxing. If you don't close the pores quickly after waxing (by cleansing and splashing with cold water) this can happen. It can also happen through no fault of your own, simply because the area that you waxed may produce more oil which contributes to the pores becoming clogged.

You want to keep the skin very clean and dry. Use a toner that contains some alcohol. You won't get wrinkles, get a toner that is especially designed for the skin. If you have very dry skin, use an oil free moisturizer, but I would suggest avoiding moisturizer completely if possible.

If you sweat, wash your face immediately. Within a week or so it will be gone completely, but I know you probably want a solution that will help now because no one likes red bumps on their face!

If you apply something to your skin, don't use anything oily. you can actually use eye drops that are made for allergies to reduce redness. Using a product for acne might also help - try something with sylicylic acid which helps to exfoliate dead skin cells, but avoid benzoyl peroxide because it can burn skin that is sensitive which yours will be right now.

Also, there are creams meant to be used after waxing (like bikini zone) which help with the redness. I use it every time I wax my legs and the red bumps are gone within hours.

Aside from all of these remedies, the best and most simple thing you can do is take a very cold wash cloth (and even put some ice inside) and hold it gently on your cheeks for a few minutes at a time. It will significantly help with redness.

Hope this helps!

Cleanse with wather only and use a gentle moisturizer. There is no quick solution for this. You damaged the skin where it should not have been waxed and now it just needs to heal. May even consider a little bit of neosporin before bed for a night or two. If you have a real problem with hair on your cheeks consider electrolisis, it will be much more worth it in the long run...good luck.

don't use alcahol it will dry you out. Witch hazel can also be drying and you are more likely to have reactions to it.
How do I know this you ask? I went to beauty college as an Esthetician (skin care)

I recomend using a calming cleanser, or hydrating cleanser. You have just removed the top layer of your skin by waxing. The bumps are normal, the face is extra sensitive. You may want to use a cooling gel mask of some sort. If you can afford Dermalogica products sold at salons and professional beauty supplies, they have ultra calming cleanser and good moisturizers. Basically be gentle. Don't go to extremes to revers the affects..you can end up worse.
