Since the Vice President is first in line to become President should something befall him, I would imagine the same rule applies.

I believe so, but not for the Speaker Of The House. The Speaker is third in line for presidency, behind the President and Vice President. The law does state that only an American born citizen can become President Of The United States.

According to the Constitution, Article II, Fifth paragraph, no person shall be president who is not a natural born citizen. No where else in the constitution or the amendments does this change, so they must be a citizen who was born here, to be president. In theory this would be true for the Vice-President as well, however it does not say anywhere in the Constitution specifically. I don't think anyone would vote for someone who could not become the president since that is the Vice-Presidents reason for being.

This is the reason why Arnold Swartzenegger wants to make an amendment to the constitution...:)
