Hi,

There's this dude in my class whom I'm really not getting along with. A few times, we almost got into a fight. I predict that one day, we're probably gonna have a fist fight. But I haven't fought anyone in 3 years, and I don't really know any fighting skills. Plus he's taller than me, which puts me to a disadvantage.
I want to learn some good fighting skills/techniques which would ensure me victory. I seriously want to kick this guy's *** right now. :(

So can you suggest some strategies/moves etc? Or some website links on the matter would help.

PS: I'm 13 and he's 14 and a half. We're in grade 9

thank you everyone for all the great answers! I'll try my best to ignore him, but its really hard cause he sits 1 person away from me. We swore at eachother sometimes, but its always he who's challenging to fight...i'll stay away grom trouble. :)

The first technique would the art of....... ignoring him.

If you are unable to do that, then try a martial art to DEFEND yourself, not to attack him or kick his butt, just because you don't like him, that's just childish.

Suggestions:

for striking: muay thai, boxing, sanshou, shidokan and kyokushin karate.

for grappling: judo, brazilian jiujitsu, wrestling, sambo.

As said previously try to ignore the other persons ignorance. No sense in making your life tough for some idiot with something to prove. That being said, Nothing is better than actual training under proper supervision(because you did say your only 13). You'll want to explore schools that train in self defense, not a sport school. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. A good school will train you in ALL phases of combat training. But also teach you when to use it, and how to use it. Any time you engage in combat out in street or school or what have you. You are also responsible for your actions. In other words if he points his finger into your chest and swears at you, and you then decied to dislocate his elbow. That can be considered EXTREME USE OF FORCE and then you parents are liable for YOUR actions. Meaning they can be sued in court. It is one thing to know how to defend yourself, its more important to when and to use the APPROPRIATE amount of force without getting yourself into further trouble.

ignore. in my life ive taught myself to ignore or to make everyone your friend. honestly i wouldnt ever contact the staff of the school because i know it wouldnt only be based on dumb pride but i would have to learn everything myself. in a fight, what you do is you can straightforward attack and run away or block, attack and run away. the point is to not get caught. I highly recommend you not fight but if its forced upon u then the point is to run.

i know sometimes its impossible to ignore something. what i do is i simply one day say lets be friends and once ur neutral with him u dont actually have to talk to him but just ignore him from then on, therefore there wont be any arguments and u would think of each otehr as ok. even if he says shut up or ur joking or anything just ignore it and he will eventually get used to it and not fight at all.

nothing compares to actual classes. I say don't fight unless he starts it. I say tackle him and hit him a few times. then leave. I have good stand up but I know that untrained fighters end up on the ground so just put it there show your not going to put up with and and don't take it to far
