It been a long long time i know but i just realized today that i have not got it.... i received a letter in the ,ail saying i owed money to our local college and they would be taking the money from my state taxes to pay for it and i would be left with $130 after they deducted what i owed annd would be getting a check. I went to the college to re enroll and they said i couldnt because i owed them money. apparently the college never got paid either.... i need a phone number of someone to contact to see what is going on with this. I want to take care of it before the new year rolls around!!!

When your tax refund is offset for government debts, unpaid taxes or back child support you can expect a 6 to 8 month delay in receiving any remaining refund. The recipient of the funds being offset can expect a similar delay. If you filed a timely return you should see your remaining refund by the end of the year in most cases. The school would get their money at around the same time you get your refund.

Contact the FTB to see what is the status of your refund and the offset for the debt to the school.

It would be a real help to anyone trying to answer your question if you'd say what state you are in.

Check your state website in the tax section - there might be a phone number there.
