if so, what happened? Before i get responses from everyone else in the country, first know that Texas does considers wages and personal property i.e houses and vehicles exempt from being garnished. Meaning if you live in Texas, youre stuff is SAFE. Im just trying to figure out how far this collection agency will go with their threats if they cant take my property or garnish my wages?

The first poster is correct, if they win they can place a lien on your property.

Yes Texas does have wage garnishment exemptions and a creditor cannot seize property, house, cars, etc, for an unsecured money debt judgment. But they can place liens on that property in hopes that you will eventually sell the property.

Once you sell the property that has a lien against it, and the judgment lien is still active, they can legally take their cut from your sale "profits".

They can also seize bank accounts.

Not all property is exempt. And while they can't necessarily garnish your wages directly, they can seize any bank accounts.
They can also put a lien on property so that you can't sell it until the debt is paid.
The creditor can also file a "post judgment recovery" for you to turn over any documents to provide proof of your accounts. If you ignore this notification, you can go to jail for contempt of court.
Lastly, judgments in TX last for 10 yrs and are renewable.

Wages cannot be garnished in Texas, but they can garnish bank accounts. In other words, once you deposit your paycheck it is no longer exempt.
They can put a lien on your homestead. The lien will not be satisfied until you sell your property.
One vehicle per licensed driver in a household is exempt.
