I just had this thought in my head, I'm doubting it's original.

So thousands of years ago, before anyone knew the earth's core was super hot, they said that there was a hell "down there" that was a burning pit of suffering. Then we find out that down there actually is very hot.

Doesn't that make the Heaven/Hell idea more valid?

I think this is interesting. I never thought of this before.

Personally...I think the volcanoes that were once more prevalent around the world would have given them more of a hint to what's down there. You know... big scary open pit that seems to go down to a deep hot "underworld"...sometime erupting and pouring out rivers/lakes of fire... IMO I think that helped inspire a "hell".

Yes, very interesting and I believe it is so......It also speaks of hell as outer darkness......Would it not be a horrible place to live in total darkness with no one around. You don't have a body just a soul and can only think and think and think but no enjoyment of any kind.....just a spirit that is in torment for eternity......But God spoke of it as an everlasting fire.....

No. I don't think Heaven or Hell were necessarily thought to be here on this particular planet.

No sense at all. Hell will only appear at the judgement time.

Not at all - By this logic, heaven is outer space... is that right? Is that what they thought heaven would be? A Vacuum?
