Obviously, pulling out ingrown toenails with tweezers is not a good way to get rid of ingrown toenails and keeping them off.

The best way to do this is this: first, soak the foot with the ingrown toenail in epsom salt and hot water, if there is any infection. This will kill the infection. Second, dry off the foot thoroughly with tissue paper or kleenex. Do not use a "clean towel" --- just to be on the safe side. Then, deaden the toe with ice or anything else that will numb it, completely. After that, cut across the affected toenail with scissors, until you come to the ingrown nail. Then, cut the ingrown toenail with scissors. Make sure you get rid of all of the ingrown nail. Next, rub an antibiotic cream on it. Finally, put either 1 or more bandages on the ingrown nail. That's it ------ but remember to repeat the process, regularly. Eventually, your toe should be back to normal. You could go to a doctor for this, but they
can be terribly expensive (unless you either have health insurance or can find a low-cost doctor). Other than that, I
would recommend just tending to your foot with the ingrown toenail yourself.

To prevent ingrown toenails from reoccuring, always remember this: when cutting your toenails, always use scissors and not nail clippers or tweezers or anything like that. Just use scissors. Cut your toenails regularly, too.

That should help you. You can also look up treating ingrown toenails in health books or on the internet, among other sources.

Unfortunately theres not much that can be done about ingrown toenails. I get them all the time. The best thing to do is buy a good ($10) pair of nail scissors or cuticle cutters and give the sides a good trim whenever you feel the slightest bit of pain from the nail.

I have friends that clip their nails very very short and claim their doctor told them to do that. That doesn't work. My dad had horrendous ingrown toenails and I have sorta bad ones. My dad would clip his toenails into a V. It allowed him to keep the nails from getting ingrown, but he did have to pull them out. I just let my nails grow long enough that when I'm toweling off after a shower, as I dry my feet(diabetes) I just run my fingernails around the nail's cuticle and then gently pull up on the nail. I just do it and very seldom have problems. It also pays to clean underneath your nails on a regular basis. It makes them look better anyway. They're work and if you don't work at it, you pay. The doctor won't do anything you can't do.

they are so very painful especially if they get infected, a doctor can prescribe antibiotics or an antibiotic cream, he wont go to cut them out on that first visit not till the infection has gone.
In the meantime cut straight across the top of the nail not curved and dont pick at the sides it just makes them want to curl in

Stop with the tweezers or you will make them worse. Go see a podiatrist ( foot doctor ) and get some real relief.

I use to get them when I was 14. I soaked my feet in Ebsent Salt (I may have spelled that wrong so check it out at drug store or another adult you can ask about it, sorry) mix it in hot water and soak your feet for a half hour or so every hour and they should go away. Mine did. My grandpa told me to try it.

Surgery, unless you have a tolerance for pain and good incision skills.

I cut out the only 2 I ever had.

It hurt, but they never grew back that way.
