Sorry haven't gone somewhere by airplane for a LONG time.

"Circular knitting needles are recommended to be less than 31 inches in total length
We recommend that the needles be made of bamboo or plastic (Not Metal)
Scissors must have blunt points
In case a Security Officer does not allow your knitting tools through security it is recommended that you carry a self addressed envelope so that you can mail your tools back to yourself as opposed to surrendering them at the security check point.
As a precautionary measure we recommend that you carry a crochet hook with yarn to save the work you have already done in case your knitting tools are surrendered at the checkpoint"

I would call the airline, but if it is typical of other lines, the answer is incredibly yes. I recently flew Southwest and there was a woman knitting away with these big long knitting needles. Coming in from Hawaii, ATA also allowed another woman with knitting needles, so I am assuming they all allow them. I am rather surprised especially since baby nail scissors are not allowed and the needles would pose more of a threat than a pair of baby scissors! Go figure.

In carry on - probably not.

apparently after 9/11 they are suspected weapons but take a glass bottle off the trolly smash it thats a weapon
