I think an enema is fluid while a suppository is solid.

Oh, are you in for a treat! LOL. ;)

A Fleet enema comes in a package similar to liquid douche but instead of inserting an enema vaginally, you insert part of the tip of the enema into your rectum. It is a method that is prescribed by many doctors to clean out your bowels, either for a test procedure or perhaps because the person tends to be constipated. Fleet is simply a popular brand name of enemas.

A suppository is made of glycerin (usually) and whereas the
enema is liquid, the suppository is put into a mold to where it
refrigerated and it becomes a solid and they melt inside the rectum (much like Preparation H suppositories, for instance).
Once the suppository takes a solid form is stays that way until it is exposed to heat. But unlike an enema a suppository may be inserted either vaginally or rectally, depending on what the suppository was prescribed for. Sometimes, gynecologists and obstetricians prescribe specially made suppositories if a woman is prone to having miscarriages. These kind are specially made compound medicines that contain certain hormones and you use them vaginally. But suppositories can also be used rectally (however you are instructed to use it) for constipation or for reducing the inflammation and swelling of hemorrhoids.

Under normal circumstances, neither a suppository nor an enema hurt, although using an enema may cause you to have diarrhea for a while until your body is empty of all solid waste material. Yeah, I know this is detailed, but you asked and since I happen to be familiar with both, I told you exactly what I know. I hope this didn't gross you out too much and hope that I helped explain the differences to you.

A Fleet enema is a liquid which is inserted in to the rectum from a small container. It irritates the bowel which then tries to expel everything in there. A suppository is much gentler. It is usually in the form of a tapered lozenge with a low melting point. This is inserted as far in to the rectum as possible and left there to melt.It should be held as long as possible, and as it melts it stimulates colonic activity and so helps the bowel to empty.
Enemas should only be used when everything else has failed as some can cause unwanted side effects.

A suppositiory is about one ounce of wax, usually with a medication of some kind in it.
An enema is water, with soap, or medication added; and can range from 12 ounces [ one and 1/2 cups ] to 66 ounces [ a little over two quarts ] approx.
The suppository will work for constipation if it has only been two days or so - the fleets is to get EVERYTHING moving in there.

An enema is a liquid that you put into your rectum, hold it in for a bit, and then it flows out, along with everything else that might have been up there. It is supposed to clean you out. A suppository is anything that you put up there that stays up there. It is generally some kind of medicine that absorbs through your skin. I hope that helps.
