What are the fines, penalties and points for speeding?

For non-commercial vehicles, the fines and possible prison sentences are:

more than 10 mph over - less than 30 mph over $180 $300 not more than 15 days
more than 30 mph over $360 $600 not more than 30 days
inappropriate speed $45 $150 not more than 15 days
Fines increase if your are convicted of more than one speed violation in 18 months. License is revoked for 3 convictions in 18 months. Fines may vary for speeding in school zone or restricted highway. Fines are doubled in work zones.
The driver penalty points are:

MPH over speed limit Points

1 - 10 mph 3
11 - 20 mph 4
21 - 30 mph 6
31 - 40 mph 8

In addition to the fines and penalties shown, you will have to pay a state surcharge and possibly a Driver Responsibility Assessment if you receive six or more points on your driver record during a period of 18 months and the violations occurred on or after November 18, 2004.

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.

if they write on the summons you were doing 78, you were probably doing 85 or more. Cops generally bring down the actual number to warn you even though they issue the summons, to give you a bit of a break. Read the summons--there is probably a fine schedule on the back or near the bottom on the front. Since you admit you WERE SPEEDING, plead GUILTY WITH AN EXPLANATION, and have a good and REASONABLE excuse ready for the judge. Act GENUINELY SORRY and maybe the judge will reduce the fine and the points on your license, especially if this is your first offense.

I'm not sure about New York, but 13 over is not that big of a deal in WI, like 2 points and $150 fine. the points go away in 2 years, too. It's probably close to the same there. You'll be fine because you sound scared straight :)

Strictly speaking, a cops are prohibited from making any fake accusations or attempting to arrest a guy or woman in accordance with fake/fraudulent tips. it would be police misconduct and you're able to sue for malicious prosecution in case you're later stumbled on harmless of the cost. besides the shown fact that, you pick evidence to tutor the misconduct and interior the case you defined it does not look such as you have particularly some rfile evidence which could defend you in a protracted time.

Your fine will depend on the judge's ruling. Points, I do not know. Losing your license, how many other tickets do you have, and what are they for? That will be a deciding factor in that part of the equation. My advice, SLOW DOWN!!!!!!!

I am from NY. The fine is not your main problem, the insurance hike is. Once your insurance gets wind of this (and NY police do inform them), your rates will go up about $800 a year.

Just pay it and learn a valuable lesson. If thats your first violation don't worry about it. The second violation will hurt you though, so be careful.

relax they'll just send a sniper to your house if they think you're going to panic. so remain calm and dial 911 then go to your local pharmacy and request large doses of xanax, you may have to pay a great deal of money and meet someone in an alley after the store closes, but it will truly be well worth it.call me 715 4297654
