I've been to 16 islands, I'll tell you a few I liked best.
St. Kitt's, it just has a beauty about it that is hard to put into words.
St. Thomas U.S.V.I., yes it has plenty of people on it, and that might not be your way of getting away. But it is a part of America in the Caribbean. And I love it.
Aruba, it has lovely beaches, and is ideal for getting out and really experiencing the desert wilderness if you have several days to go exploring. Aruba is known for their resorts, and casino's.

I like Royal Caribbean cruises.... they cost a little more but the ships are much more elegant, bigger and comfortable...(carnival cruises are kind of spartan and the rest have too many kids) Unfortunately most of the best all inclusive resorts are in the Cancun/Riveria Maya area... The other islands with lots of all inclusive's are Jamaica and Hispanola (Dominican Republic), and I recommend AGAINST those.. (they are good if you intend on STAYING in the resort, but unsafe when you leave the resort).. If you like to explore try Grand Caymen, Aruba or St Maarten... But they are not big on the all inclusives.. All are very SAFE (despite the natalie h. thing, Aruba is a great place) and you'll have lots to do, and relax if you so choose.

My wife and I just got back from Jamaica. We stayed at Hedonism 2 in Negril. It was the best vacation we've ever had, and can't wait to go back. Do your research, read the reviews. They are very accurate. If this at all seems like something that might interest you I fully suggest throwing caution to the wind and going. It is a place I would only go to as a couple. It was everything, and nothing like we expected. It is a whole different mindset that can't be explained. This resort is well within your budget including souvenirs and anything you might want to get beforehand to make the theme parties more fun. Just to make myself clear this place was to much fun, and I am craving like an addict for the time when we can go back.

Try TripAdvisor.com.
Aruba is a good idea - nice beaches and lots of choices for resorts.
Cozumel has good snorkeling, is a friendly and pretty island and is relatively a good deal.
St. John USVI is gorgeous but expensive - unless you do Maho Bay or Cinnamon Bay campgrounds.
Personally, I would do a cruise. It's all-inclusive and you get to see several different places, though only for a brief time. But you get a "taste" for different places you might want to return to for a land-based vacation.

In a all-inclusive resorts you can not stay more than a week; I believe. (after that you will get bored) so ur budget is pretty good for most caribbean Island destinations. so try some search. www.travel.yahoo.com or www.orbitz.com Good trip..
