My mother had a facelift 3 or 4 weeks ago. She's complaining about having wrinkles on her face. I don't know how to comfort her anymore (she feels like she paid too much for her to have wrinkles--but she's 60 and I keep telling her that she can't look like a 20 year old or it'd be weird!). However, she's really down about it and I hate to see her like this since she was so excited before to get it done. Anything I could say to her that would help? Does anyone know how long it would take to see the full results of the facelift (I have the feeling she still has some swelling that's causing some wrinkles)? Is there anything that would help diminish the wrinkles that are left over? I'd really like her to be happy with her face, because she looks great! Thanks.

Call the plastic surgeon's office to ask whar she should and shouldn't be doing to heal faster.
Also, try:
1] great diet - lots of veggies, fruit, whole grains
2] drink 1/2 gallon of water a day
3] no smoking or alcohol
4] exercise - gets those fluids pumping, so some will move back where they belong - only walking or stationary bike, not strenuous activity
5] sleep in a recliner, or elevated on several pillows at night.
put one pillow parallel to headboard; second at right angles to first; and third parallel to headboard again [ old nurse's trick ]
It will take four to six weeks for best results to be visible, and final results won't be until several months.
