While I would consider drunk driving to be a serious problem, an even more serious problem is the lack of containment for it. When somebody has killed a victim due to drunk driving AND that same somebody has been convicted of 14 previous DUI's, then it's not the driver that is so much the problem, but the system itself.

Then again, who makes the laws? Does the name Chappaquiddick ring a bell?

Yes, ask the mother of a child that was killed by a drunk driver and she will tell you why.

Is this even a serious question? Have you ever been drunk? I hope so... if you cant walk right, and cant talk right, what makes you think you can drive a car right? A car is more than a mode of transportation, its a responsibility and can be easily be turned into a lethal weapon.

Not only is driving drunk a serious problem, but so too is being drunk. Many rapes occur when people are drunk. For the purpose of protecting a woman from sexually violent men, the USA ought to bring back the Prohibition Act.

Yes, drunk driving is a very serious problem. If you don't believe it ask someone that has lost a family member to a drunk driver.

Yes. I agree with Kenneth...there's pretty much no way that drunk driving is an acceptable behavior within society. Those who choose to put others at risk must lose their own rights to drive.

Of course, but most of what they do about it is just show.

Lowering the BAC from .10 to .08 is like lowering the speed limit from 50mph to 40 mph because some people are driving 100mph.

Rehabs and AA have lousy success rates, but it gives the politicians the appearance of being tough on crime, yet compassionate.

I've never had a DUI or alcohol-related auto accident and I no longer drink but I don't believe in crucifying a person who did.

FUNNY YOU ASK.
LAST NIGHT WE TALKED ABOUT DUI AND DWI ARRESTS.

THERE IS A FINE LINE ABOUT THIS.
WHAT DO THINK ABOUT PUI? (PEDESTRIAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE?)

MY FEELING IS DRINKING IS A PROBLEM. TOO MANY PEOPLE CANNOT HANDLE THEIR LIQUOR.
WHEN ARRESTED THEY WANT TO FIGHT BECAUSE A DRUNK DOES NOT THINK THEY ARE DRUNK.

YES IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. ALWAYS HAS BEEN A SERIOUS PROBLEM.
USE TO ARREST 65 DRUNKS A YEAR AND WAS NOT TRYING TO ARREST THEM. (1970'S)

DRINKING IS LIKE DRUGS AND PROSTITUTION THEY ARE NOT GOING AWAY. IF PEOPLE CHOOSE TO DRINK AND DRIVE THEN I HAVE TO ARREST THEM WHEN CAUGHT.

WHY IS IT WHEN WE ALL TALK ABOUT DESIGNATED DRIVERS. WE HAVE SO MANY DRUNKS CAUGHT?

I have no problem with drink driving as long as the drive agrees to the death penalty if they kill or serious injury someone. They choose to drink, they have to take the responsibility.

Yes, it is a serious problem; I believe State Governments should enforce and possibly strengthen the laws to ensure these drivers pay the FULL PRICE for their error in judgment.

It does no good for these drivers to blame others for their predicament.
