In the book of Daniel concerning most if not all expect chapter 12, would you say his visions are related to items before Christ and about the coming of Christ whereas Revelations is mainly after Christ and about the second coming of Christ?

I'm not sure if you want me to answer this because I have no other source for my answers except for the insight the Holy Spirit has given me through years of studying and prayer.
I believe the prophesies of Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelations have different depths and plains. I think they have a political plain, an individual plain and a broad spiritual plain. I think most of the prophecies of Daniel were for the not so distant future predicting past events such as the succession and fall of Babylon, Assyria, Persia and the Roman Empire.
I have most of my insight from Revelation. I prayed alot about it and studied it indepth. I don't know the political plain of the symbolism. Some say the whore is the Catholic Church. I don't know that to be true. My insight is all spiritual. I know who the beast is, the false prophet and the whore spiritually. I'll give you a clue. She's the same person as the virgin in Chapter 12! That's right, she is the church. She was a beautiful clean young virgin when the church was young but in these last days, she has adulterated herself so much that she has become that whore of chapter 17 and 18. There is so much to share I would never be able to explain all the symbolism and how I came to the conclusions I did in the space they give us to write even ten answers. To me, the book of Revelations was timeless. It spoke to Christians in the day of John and it speaks to us today. It's a warning for them to try to keep the gospel clean and the evil out of the church. And it is a warning for us today of what the bible says the church will become.

For the most part, this book deals with the world powers from Babylon to Rome, but yet it also deals with the coming of Messiah to the final days. This book's prophecies were so accurate that many scholars believed it was written after the fact until the discoveries of the Dead Sea Scrolls in Qumran. One example is the statue that Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream which represented these kingdoms (Daniel 2:31-44). Another example is the detail given in chapter 7 concerning Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and the Roman empire. One final example is about Christ and is found in chapter 9. It discusses the time frame from when Cyrus gave the order to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem to the cutting off of Messiah (Crucifixion). When you look at the numbers given by Daniel in 9:24-26, and understand that each week represents a 7 year period, then you will see that from the year that Cyrus gavethe decree till the time that Christ was crucified was 62 weeks or 434 years. These are just 3 examples of the accuracy of God's word in prophetic events concerning things that are now history and that are yet to come.

Why only Christians? Daniel was a Jew and that book is still a part of Jewish history, hence I would think the question could be open to all. I wonder if Daniel understood what the visions relate to. In any event it is very interesting and may relate to world events today in some way if we understood the purpose and imagery of these visions as to why they have been relatively "public" for several thousands of years, is there real value in trying to understand these visions for us today, or maybe it doesn't make too much difference if we really understand these visions as it seems to me God is going to do what he is going to do regardless of any past revelations.

I believe the book of Daniel concerns the end times whereas Revelations concerns the coming destruction and end of the Roman Empire.
My church did an in-depth study of the various interpretations of Revelations and this interpretation seemed to be the most logical.
Daniel prophesied many things about the end times, many of which have come true---flying chariots, increase in knowledge, etc.

Well, I'm a born again Christian and I do know that the book of Daniel is one of the prophetic books. It does relate to Christ's birth, death and resurrection. The book of Daniel, like other prophetic books also tell of the day of judgment. Here is a verse in Daniel that shows that. Daniel 12:1-3 - And at taht time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at taht time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 - And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 7:9-14 - I beheld till the trones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire, 10 - A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 11 - I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 12 - As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. 13 - I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 - And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
The above references refer to the end times - Christ's second coming. The 'beast', as mentioned in verse 11 is Satan.
