I'm sure the Greeks would beg to differ with the first answer, however, while people have lived in the Middle East for thousands of years, as independent states, the countries you've mentioned are very modern, all coming into existence since WW1. Prior to that time, most of the areas involved were part of the Ottoman Empire.
