After the hateful post by a proclaimed Christian, I flipped back to my mail and a person who said they were Christian had added me to their contacts. They had a few Christians that I know in their contacts, but none of my Atheist, Pagan or friends from other belief systems were there. Their email was not open. I only took a moment to go through their Q&A history before I decided it was more important to get them out than to worry about offending them.

I wanted to email them, but their email was blocked. After the hateful post tonight I feel very protective of my contacts, who are from many belief systems. If I would have seen a QorA that indicated tolerance for others, I would never have blocked them.

Last ent wife, perhaps you did not read the details. It is the diversity of my contacts that I value. I have many Christian friends on this site that I could chose to associate with exclusively. I just said that I do not chose to do that. I am also aware that many people are rude and intolerant, I just don't happen to be one of them. I stand by my faith in Christ without faltering, but I believe He teaches us to love God first, then our neighbors.

So.....I'm just curious, if I don't have anyone except Christians on my contacts I would not be welcome as your contact? What if I prefer to have only Christians but do not judge others? What if I have only associated with believers because I have more in common with them and still I don't judge others? What if.............well, you get my point. I have to be honest with you, this surprises me that you feel this way

You shouldn't feel bad at all. This is the purpose of the block feature. You get to choose who you associate with. Many people claim to be Christians but haven't reached the same place that you or maybe I have. You are standing up for what you feel is right. Good for you. You are not expected to befriend everyone. that would only keep you from having any friends at all. :)

I feel very sad about that bad news. We cant be responsible for someone Else's behavior. Why is it, what he has done is in question? Who knows if it was Church hurt. Or, perhaps someone who has judged him. What about the people who are killed by drunk drivers every 4 Min's. What about the drive through killings. We have perpetrators everywhere and in everywhere. Why should we think a church should be excluded? I love you and everyone. Do I like everyone's behavior....NO! Let's remember, we can't single one incident. I've live to hear about the "Columbine killings" "9/11/2001" so on and so forth... My prayers to the families. My hope is one day our crime will stop.

How sad. Christianity is not a religion; it is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Christianity started out in Palestine as a fellowship of believers.

When Christianity moved to Greece, it became a philosophy. Then it moved to Italy and became an institution.

Christianity moved to Europe and became a culture. Then it came to America and became an enterprise!

Many Christians are fairly aware of their own denomination's current beliefs, but they are completely unfamiliar with the teachings of other denominations.

Whether you want to convert others or dialogue with them, it helps to know what they believe.

There is a wide range of Christian interpretations ... about the Ten Commandments, abortion, anti-semitism, homosexuality, the end of the world, salvation, etc. Yet we read the same Bible.

Many people are so sure that the Bible is the authentic word of God that they almost "worship" the Bible, perhaps even making of it "an idol".

Accept the "mystery" of life. Only the living God knows some things!

"Trust not on your own understanding".

Just ask yourself WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

Was our Lord not accused Himself, of spending time with sinners, and unworthy company?

I don't blame you at all, I think that you did the right thing.
It's important to surround yourself with people who put a smile on your face.

I had to learn this lesson the hard way, my Ex had multiple personality disorder & I didn't know what I was in for.

It's nice to help people when you can, but with some extreme cases, the best you can do is let them be.

Hey, what happens happens, just throwing a big C word around doesn't change much because for the most part one doesn't know other people's agenda's and/or reasons for what they do and say.

no that would be just as judgmental as the one doing the blocking your new contact . Luke:1-2 I give this for those who think they are above their own god's judgment!

I definatly would. I am picky on who sees my questions and who I want to respond to them.

I like positive or constructive feedback, wouldn't care ot have someone that gave less than that.

Have a great nite girl, good to see you on the boards.

Yes, let's all run into our collective little camps and stop talking to each other. Let's not befriend anyone who doesn't believe exactly the same thing we believe.
Pretty soon this forum will nothing but atheists answering atheists questions and Christians answering Christian questions.
We're going to block each other out, fail to communicate, and accomplish nothing.

But hey, it's your profile, you have the right to make whatever choice you see fit with it.

EDIT - my comments were more directed toward everyone and not just you. I just want people to think twice before they block someone out over a difference of opinions. We're all here to learn and share with one another. I have always accepted and added anyone who wanted to be in my contact list and as of now I've never been "burned" for that.
But like I said, if you feel they are a danger to you, then keep them out, it's ultimately your call.

My contacts run the full spectrum, many of them are no longer active, and I have only blocked one user, because of his mean spirited answers and question.
if they are connecting to me, then I feel that they are interested in what I am saying, and it might make a difference in their lives.

but you have to do what you feel comfortable with I know that you have prayed about in and I respect that.
