I had an Upper GI today (the barium swallow test) and as I was looking at the screen, they showed my stomach. On the screen (due to the barium) made my stomach black, but there were white dots here and there. Even on the duadom (sp?). I asked my dad about it and he said that those are starts of stomach ulcers. Apparantly, I've been under so much stress that my stomach is producing too much acid and in so little words, eating my stomach and intestines alive. I can't wrap my brain around it. I know it's treatable but still, it's so shocking.

Has anybody else had this? Can someone tell me if they had an Upper GI and what they got back as results? Is it normal to be acting like this? I'm worried, yet calm and relieved.

Dots on a barium swallow could be bubbles of gas in the liquid contents of the stomach and duodenum. Or they could be particles of food left over from a prior meal.

Don't try to interpret what you see on the screen. That's the radiologist's job. Just relax and enjoy life and see what the doctor says about the results.

I've had an ulcer myself. It's okay but can just be uncomfortable. They will give you medicine for it and heal it right up. You'll be fine, and it will go away it just takes awhile. With me it was a few months but it varies from person to person.
By the way you mean duodenem which is part of the lower gi and you can get ulcers there as well. It's part of the colon. No fear though, it seems shocking but it won't last forever.
Worst case scenario would be having to take an antacid with food (that's acid producing).
